Summer Squash and zucchini can be harvested at different times. Brown and yellow tips are due to pollination and I provide visual examples. The squash bug is best managed by inspection and removal. I show examples of eggs and the insect.

  2. Gary, I’m trying to find the video where you pulled out some strawberry plants and I think you soaked them in a bowl of water and then re-transplanted them. It’s not the one where you bought the bag of crowns. It was another one and I can’t find it.

I have, an overgrown area of strawberry plants, and I want to take them out of the lawn and transplant them back into the planter box where they belong

  3. What really works great on the squash bug eggs, is a little smear of petroleum jelly over them, they suffocate. Sometimes there are so many eggs you end up with very few leaves if you have to constantly remove them.
Hand pollinated my 1st zucchini's the other day, really looking forward to fresh zucchini on the grill.
    Enjoy your videos! Stay Well!!!

  4. I try to grow a lot of squash/zucchini during the season. I've tried the yellow summer squash here in Sweden but, didn't really get that many yellow squashes so, I'm just doing the green zucchini's this year. I do harvest some of the young zucchini's when they first come in and eat fresh but, most of the time, I'll let them grow at least twice as big as the one you showed. Reason being is that I remove the seeds, chop them down and dehydrate the ones I don't put on the barbecue or, in the oven to roast and store for use over the winter in stews, soups, flour etc.

  5. Gary, I noticed how few of stocks/leafs you have on each plant. I have 7 plants. I trimmed back the largest stocks. How few of stock/leafs does a plant need to thrive?

  6. Gary, I’ve got female blooms that never open. I keep waiting to hand pollenate, and they just turn brown. Aphids, maybe?

  7. For potatoes grown in containers that I think have blight, can the soil be reused this year, or should I compost it for next year counting on the cold to kill the blight spores? Or can it be used for crops that aren't nightshades? Thank you for your great videos!

  8. Thanks. Can I successfully hand-pollinate winter squash flowers with male zucchini flowers?

  9. I like your channel, I have two questions. My first question is what causes zucchini to disfigure and the question is. I bought new cucumber seeds, this is my second time trying to grow the seeds. I bought the same seeds last year from Amazon, they are Korean cucumber seeds. Have you ever tried the paper towels test?

  10. I notice that at the base of the first plant you showed us, there was something on the stem that looked like Elmer's Glue, and not the white powder that you've shown us in other videos. Are you now using a paste to protect against the Squash Vine Borer?
