Mine look like this as well and I thought it was birds so I put wiring over my berries but it’s still happening so I think it’s slugs.

Look for the shiny mucous trails, but this looks like bites from a small rodent

We have the same. Birds do the damage (in my case blackbirds). Then, when the strawberry is open and the juices are flowing, everyone else joins in: slugs, ants, woodlice, centipedes, wasps… Just cover it with a bird netting and you will see the difference. For us spare windbreak netting worked well.
