We are giving you an in-depth tutorial on how we use Power Planter augers in our gardens because they have radically changed how we put our plants into the ground. We’ve always held to the motto of “work smarter, not harder”, and these augers certainly fit into that category.

  1. For anyone who is on the fence about these, just do yourself a favor and get one if you can. Biggest time and back saver! I also have super heavy clay with random rock pockets and can barely get the tip of the shovel in the ground. Beware though, once you have an auger you'll want to put more beautiful plants in the ground 😉 Thanks for another great video Jenny!

  2. Love using augers and a Dewalt drill in the garden. Unfortunately, in Canada it is hard to get Power Planter augers. I am grateful I have found augers that are working well.

  3. Good Morning Jenny. I love my power planter. I bought one of the kits about 2 years ago. Yes, it was a lot of money at the time but it was well worth the investment. It has made life so much easier. There is no way that I would be able to plant as many things in a day without it. And the safety feature is a blessing here in our NC red clay with our hidden rocks, bricks, etc. And the battery backs last for forever or at least for me they do.

  4. Good morning, Jenny ☕️ I absolutely LOVE my Power planter! I ordered one for myself and my sister was amazed so I called Power Planter and they gave me 10% off for her! Super awesome company and, there is a “Laura Edition” now too! It truly is a gardening game changer! Have a Blessed Day 😊🐶

  5. Thank you for this video! Watching your videos sold me on the auger, but the drill part confused me. Using a drill for piddly stuff is way different than the garden soil. I am older and not as strong as I once was so that handle looks like a must have. Thank you again! ❤

  6. Jenny just love watching you every morning, because of you and Laura who I watch too, I bought myself 2 augers, I just love them!!!!! Where were these 30 years ago when we bought our house.

  7. Thanks so much for showing us each one of these augers and explaining how to use each one. I can't afford to have all of them, so I decided to pick out the 5" as I can use that for different sizes of plants and I believe I will use that one most often. My back (age 71), is thanking you already!!! LOL!

  8. Love the power planter augers and drill! They are wonderful! We have the other 60V mixer/drill with e clutch. When I first saw them on Garden Answer I was a bit reluctant because she doesn't have the red clay soil like we do in the south. Plus I have a lot of trees around so id have to worry about roots. It wasn't until I'd seen you use them that I decided to give it a go. Now I absolutely love them! The E clutch is a great feature to have. Thank you for presenting these and demonstrating them on your channel. I definitely recommend them!

  9. These tools are the true definition of Jenny’s saying- “Work Smarter Not Harder!” What a fantastic demonstration

  10. Thanks for the video. I’ve been wanting to get an order for a couple years now, but I haven’t been able to work it in the budget. Something always comes up. But I would like to know once you do get them and you have multiple augers. How do you store them? Your demo rack looks great but if you have more than one auger, what would you do with the other ones? And not everybody has access to purchasing a demo rack. I like things very neat in my garden shed because it’s so small and I have a very little room to turn around so everything Has to be in its place.

  11. Just purchased the correct drill for the auger I purchased from Power Planter. Thank you so much for the educational video on the different auger sizes and drills!!

  12. This is fantastic in-depth info that I had been looking for on augers and drills Jenny breaks it down in detailed in-depth info on what size augers to use when planting various plants and shrubs. Great video.

  13. Please remind folks that only have a normal drill, be careful around any possible root areas. I'm just now able to put pressure on my thumb, after wrenching my wrist 2 weeks ago on a fairly small root.
I must say, I've not had a bit of trouble with my 3 inch Power Planter in our nasty Ohio clay. Roots are sneaky devils, though! 😂

  14. Between Gardening with Creekside and Garden Answer I gave a power planter auger a shot last year. Game changer. I use my 7 inch auger and make all the holes for my tomato plants, drop them in and cover them with the lovely fluffy soil and am able to do 3-4 times more than with a shovel in my clay/rock soil.

One thing that really sold me on these is that it is fully welded along the shaft and not spot welded like others I have seen. Apologies Jenny if you mentioned that and I missed it.

  15. Thank you for making this video!! I'm in Northern Virginia. We have that clay soil. I'll definitely be checking out your picks. ❤

  16. I am getting my second power auger today. Can't wait for it to get here. It's a bit longer. 3 x 36 . Love all your info on the power planters.

  17. I'm in MD but we have clay soil too. I've been very intrigued by the power planter augers you use. This video was super informative. Thank you for taking the time to make it! 🙂

  18. Thank you Jenny, this was very informative I’ve been waiting for your video before I purchase my PowerPlanter you answered a lot of questions. I know this will be a game changer.

  19. We only have an 20v drill and 3 inch auger. You would not believe what we have done just with that combo including trees. It’s all I can physically handle, but it works.

  20. In the piedmont area of SC with lots of clay, tree roots etc. I’m a “senior” so they say and would love the help of the auger. My concern is my lack of knowledge about drills. Can you or Jerry guide me?

  21. The Power-Planter has been a game changer for me. I have rheumatoid arthritis and this has given me the freedom to dig and plant without having to ask the hubs to help or me wait for him to get around to it. A word of advise, when Jenny says use a drill with an “E Clutch” do it!
