  1. Happy vacation and knitting Carla! I agree with you about knitting being good for my mental health! I feel more settled when I know there’s a project to work on. Safe travels and see you again soon!

  2. I like to take 2 wips on vacation AND two ready to knit sock skeins (with minis). I also pack my umbrella swift in case I buy yarn while on vacation. Although some yarn shops will wind the yarn for you. I pack my interchangeable needles and my sock needles. I also take my crochet hook set. Of course I also have my notions. I almost always have to buy stuffing from Walmart while on vacation because I don’t think I need it and then I do! 😂 I don’t think I will take my temperature blanket this summer when I go on vacation. I like to work on many days at a time anyway.

  3. Happy knitting and travelling,Carla,,,
    Have good visit with family,,,,
Always have socks or simple things to Knit or crochet in car!
    Take care
    Elaine 🏠😍😍😍l working on socks,,,

  4. Hi Carla: Hope you have an awesome and amazing vacation! I just came back from my long overdue vacation! Yes, packing projects to knit on vacation was quite the thing that I was scrambling to get together. I had two WIPs, a lite cotton baby blanket 3/4 finish and a baby kimono that I had to frog because I misread a vital piece of the instruction. I had a carry-on without wheels and a tote bag. We were taking public transportation in Montreal. The plane ride was an hour-ish. So I needed to finish the blanket to be gifted soon. So I took that because I didn’t want to stress about the two-color kimono that went a-ride! I didn’t want to bring DPN’s and start a new pair of socks.

I was glad I didn’t bring more projects because I was going to buy more yarn! I visited a few yarn shops but didn’t buy much. I bought a few yarn but didn’t bring any other needles. So when I finished the blanket, I had nothing else to knit. I was there for 5 days. Carrying luggages up and down the trains and buses was no picnic. So, I was glad I only packed a nearly finish WIP.

Currently I am working on a second Ranunculus. In the summer, I will knit a few fall/spring tees (since I never knit any), sweaters, vest, hoodie, and socks.

Thanks for sharing! Happy knitting! ❤❤

  5. Hi Carla, Vacation is great knitting time. I used to just keep a bag of cotton in the trailer and make dishcloths while camped, now I just take along something in progress. Love the story about Jeff playing for his family church. I agree with you about knitting being good for the soul. Have a safe trip and enjoy …….

  6. I remember someone (a non-knitter/non-crafter) asking “why do you knit?” And my response was that it helps me feel centered and calmed; and I can be super focused while listening or watching something (someone will say “what did he say??’ And I can repeat pretty much the whole scene/dialogue. For vacations, I tend to take socks and crochet projects – socks are always my go-to project. Right now, I’m casting on a bunch of cuffs to be ready to just knit away. I hope you have a wonderful vacation and safe travels!

  7. Have safe travel and a wonderful time on your vacation. Your travel projects look like great choices.

  8. Hi Carla, I love your projects, esp your Kaisa tee. You’ve made lots of progress. Looks like you’ve given some good thought to your vacation projects. I love trips with lots of drive/knitting time! And I’m like you, I “need” to have a creative outlet most days to feel unstressed.
Such a neat story about your husband and the organ. I’m glad he gets to go back for this event.
    Have a great vacation!!!!!

  9. Have a great time on your trip! I spend more time packing my knitting than I do my clothes for a trip 😂 you can always stop at a yarn shop on the way 🧶

  10. Knitting is extremely positive for my mental health too. We’ve been gone so much that not much knitting was getting done and I just felt cranky and chaotic plus I was snippy with my family. I didn’t connect at first it was a lack of knitting. When I did get time though it was like a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding was released. I love Chicken Lady. I’ve tested a few times for her and she’s such a sweet lady. She just started a podcast too 😁

  11. Carla, Have a wonderful vacation, enjoy your knitting and most of all make the most of the time with your family! I wish you safe travels and enjoyed hearing your fun fact about Jeff, it was very interesting. Your sock fo was beautiful, and the yarn name was fun as well. I can't wait to see your sock wips when you get back, and your Kaisa Tee, ooh la la. I'm working on a pair of Heel Toe Do Si Do socks which I am truly enjoying and my Peepshow Pullover which is a slog.

  12. Happy travels! I am so lucky as hubby likes to drive when we travel, so I get a lot of knitting time. ❤️❤️❤️ Your shawl!

  13. I love to bring socks or a hat to work on in the car or on a plane. I might bring a larger project depending on our vacation plans, but the “transit” projects definitely get the most attention!
