Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  1. Happy Father's Day Jeremiah! You are definitely a blessed man. My dad passed away a week after he turned 47. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor and didn't get to live to much longer afterwards. Even after 39 years I think of him often. Praying that you get to live a long life and that you get to go to Ben's son's baseball game.

  2. Another important point for fathers. Stay there and be a father to your children. Makes all the difference in the world to your children. Be the husband and father God made you to be

  3. I agree with Miah..my parents both died at 50, when I was 16..never really got to know them well and it left me in a survival mode..all I knew was how to work and save. Working two jobs all of my life.

  4. I totally understand your delight at your tomatoes, I spend a few minutes each morning admiring my tiny cherry tomatoes, even though it will be a good month before they are ready to eat.

  5. For your fly problem, put Irish spring bar soap in a mesh bag and hang around the are they are. They don't like the fragrance.

  6. Try to stay healthy so you can be there as long as you can… my husband was trying to do that and it saved his life. His family has rampant heart disease. In Oct 2020 he was struggling on the treadmill. By December he couldn’t do it anymore and his legs were swelling. He went to Primary Care, sent to heart doctor, sent to UPENN for heart catheter which showed 100% blocked Left Anterior Decending artery and multiple blockages in the other 2. DR said he could’ve had massive “widow maker” heart attack if NOT FOR the biggest auxiliary vein piled up like spaghetti in the bottom of the left side of his heart! Largest he has ever seen, this vein basically formed to bypass the 100% blockage to that side. Dr said it was most likely because he kept trying to work out until he just couldn’t!
He was in heart failure and had triple bypass 2 weeks later. God is good! Our girls were 7 years old at the time. Today when they gave him his card, I was incredibly grateful he is still here for them. I grew up without a father. It’s so good to see him and great guys like you loving on their wife and kids. God bless you all!

  7. Wow that was a powerful message – thank goodness you have so many subscribers to hear it!❤️❤️❤️

  8. How in the world did you catch that light under the wall before pandemonium broke out? Lol. Many blessings everyone.

  9. Thunder storms and power fluctuations will definitely do in a device as complicated as an incubator. Many blessings everyone.

  10. I was suprised to hear it is Fathers Day in the USA. We have it in September here in Oz and no Fathers Day in Hungary where I grew up. So diverse this planet of ours. Have a fantastic day Miah. 🎉🎉🎉

  11. It’s reasonable if your Miah, and love your cows!! (To put milking debate with Father’s Day discussion) lol

  12. Happy Father's day Miah 🙏💕🥰 your always present 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁 in your children's lives 💕🥰

  13. My dad was 65 when he passed away… too soon… he drank too much alcohol! My mom was only 57 when we lost her to an automobile accident. When I was in my 30’s I started to get healthier… I am now 72, and think I am in better shape than I was in my 20’s!

  14. What is the device on the cow to assist with her kicking? What is it called? Thank you.

  15. Miah that is great advice not just for fathers but for all parents and grandparents
