Homesteading

Just closed on these five acres. Lots to do, but for now I’m gonna focus on finishing my beer.

Congratulations! Looks peaceful and very pristine. I think your pup approves!

  3. Congratulations!!

I have 5 acres as well, different topography.

Will take longer than you expect, will be uncomfortable living for a while, and cost more than you thought, but it is the BEST thing you can do for yourself.

Wishing you great success- with a million small successes along the way. And any “failures”? Those will teach you and guide you and build resilience.

Take it all in while you enjoy that beer and remember that moment every time you have a frustration there. All the hard work will be for that feeling.

Land and a Bronco. What more could one want?

  7. Congrats. I’m working my 20 acres homestead. So much work to do.. like wooow lol lol. But it’s worth it.

  8. Step one, crack open beer.
    Step two, sign closing papers.
Step three, enjoy beer from step one and imagine the amazing work you get to accomplish and enjoy for many years to come.

I love this man! 2 years ago I bought a worthless little river lot that was overgrown and full of trash. I started out just camping in my car and cleaning it up when I could.

It changed my entire mental outlook. I’ve since bought the surrounding lots, remodeled a cabin, and have a total of 18 acres of really remote peaceful ground. Congrats!

Hell yeah! Congrats. It’s so much fun! The wife and me got 6.5 acres 2 years ago. We thought it would take a year if that to get it going. We’re finally out there and I’m still working. Ours was completely covered in thorns and junk

My husband and I just bought 40 acres last February. It was really hard in the beginning, especially because it was winter but it gets easier. We are finishing a cabin that was left here to rot.

Ours is heavily forested and you can’t even walk through the forest. So much small growth. I saw on a map there’s 2 creeks that start on our property so we’re gonna try to make a trail but there was so much garbage left here, most of our time is going through things and making dump runs. Tires, a broken flatbed trailer, tarps tarps tarps, nasty cast iron pans and Dutch ovens, we even found a portable toilet that was FULL and leaking. YUCK. Cabin is full of mold because they sealed gaps with spray foam and it’s all exposed to the rain. 😒

We started off sleeping in a cargo trailer and then we got a wall tent with a wood stove inside. Best move was the wall tent.
