Leggy pothos – help

Hi! My husband took my pothos from me a year ago because I almost killed them 😬 I’ve decided it’s time to take them back now that he’s had them thriving lol. They’re very leggy and I’m wondering if I can do anything to help that?

“thriving” is subjective here…honestly I would never let my pathos grow this long. You honestly should cut each and every leaf and propagate all the leaves, poor Vines have to use some much energy to get water and nutrients…

Each leaf has a node at the end of the steam. Cut them on each side and remove excess vine. Throw all of them in water and wait like 2-3 weeks. Roots should grow to be about an inch, make sure to keep the water over the node and then honestly re-plant the leaves…in a few months you’ll have nice bushy pathos and like 4-6 new healthy plants will start to vine after a year.

If I didn’t describe this well just google “propagating pathos” in google.

After about 2 feet I always propagate and just get a new plant from it.

And there are some of us who LOVE the long vines. I have them all over my kitchen and dining room.

It’s your plant. If you like bushy, chop and prop. If you like the long, beautiful vines, drape them all over.

Personally, I think those plants are beautiful just the way they are.

You could try building a moss pole? If it has stuff for the aerial roots to grow into the leaves grow much bigger, haven’t tried it myself but could be worth a google. Maybe chop and propagate the excess and then try growing some more upward?

Those are vines, it’s a vining plant.’if you want it bushier you can chop& prop then fill the planter

I would wrap a couple vines around the top of the soil and pin them down in some way so they’ll root in the pot. You can use cloning paste on bare nodes to get it to push out a new stem.
