Container tomato plants and other vegetable plants often get under-watered and under-fertilized as they get larger. This is how you assess a struggling plant and decide on what it needs. Bottom line is water-soluble fertilizer and more frequent waterings.

All of my plants (except peppers) are lush and green. They haven’t been fertilized since early or mid May. Should I let them keep going or feed them again?
It’s been about 3 weeks since I planted and fertilized all my tomato’s and peppers. However we’ve had a ton of water, 4-6 inches actually since I put them out. I added new bone meal and fertilizer 5-8-4 to just about everything yesterday, but I’m not sure if I should go ahead and add the water soluble fertilizer while the plants are still wet? We’re expecting more rain, and I’ve tried to keep my containers from overwatering, but in ground everything is washed out. My soil is mixed with clay. Should I feed with water soluble now, and how often should I apply long term fertilizer. Thanks so much! I enjoy all of your videos and advice! Ps I’m in zone 5b
What state are u living in when u discuss rain…?..
I also wet down the outside of the fabric bags. Seems to help cool the bags and hits the edges where it seems to dry out faster.
Thanks for another video. I watch all your videos and they are very informative. I see you have a little fungus on this plant. Do you ever spray hydrogen peroxide as a preventative or just after you notice the fungus? And how often? Ive re-watched all your videos and they address spraying after the fungus has started but not as a preventative. I could have missed it though if you did say.
Are your tomato stakes made of copper?
I am growing Early Girl in containers. I would like to see what your results are. So far, my plants look in good condition. Also, I just have my first "blooms" showing because I am about 3-4 weeks behind you. I find this timely information.
I was taught to water potted plants prior to fertilizing to prevent possible root burn and not have the watering wash away the fertilizer.
For a couple years I grew tomatoes in 20/10 and even 5 gallon containers and they worked fine… but i found it really time consuming for the amount I had to water them all the time so I just ended up giving up on that idea and just plant them right into the ground now….
Definitely doable though if you don't have any soil to plant in and just use containers but a lot more work when it comes to watering and feeding.
When I water my containers the water leaks out very quickly so wondering if I should put vermiculite or perlite? I do top dress with compost and cover with straw. I have the same issue with couple of my raised also
