Hey all! I’ve finally found Pereskiopsis in my location, it looks a bit malnourished and scraggly though, how can I nurse it to full health and make a grafting army ASAP?
I root all my pere in water and often just grow them in hydro as well. I don’t feel like they root as well in soil at all and strongly prefer rooting in water

I’ve thrown 2 cm leafless stumps into my pots and they still grow into full plants. Now that you have one, you will have dozens and dozens by Sept/October.

Ive rooted tips that were barely half an inch. They are super resilient and pretty much grow like weeds and will grow at almost any length of cutting. Tough to really make out the pic snd see how big it is.

i grow mine in coir and keep them damn and humid. they very rarely drop any leaves which really helps speed things up. i’ve found they like very bright shade more than direct sun. YMMV

I wouldn’t bother trying to get this guy healthy and thick. Just cut him up into a few pieces, let calous then put into soil or water. You can try one cutting in soil and another in water to see what works best with your environment. Either way they tend to root within 3 – 5 days for me and quickly start to grow. I bought like 10 skinny branches about 4 months ago and now I have about 30 rooted and constantly growing pereskiopsis plants. About 7 are nice hardy multibranched mothers while the others are quickly getting fat and tall. I grafted 5 of the original but decided to let them grow a bit more before starting the graftpocalypse

I just found that they like mois air, and don’t like direct sunlight

Use rooting hormone. I bought cuttings and used rooting hormone and then placed it in a moist soil. Within 3 days there were already leaves coming up. Incredible
