I visited Biddulph Grange Garden which is part of the National Trust. The Garden of James Bateman. I’ve been to Biddulph Grange Garden many times and throughout the different seasons. It is a garden for all seasons and there is always something interesting to see whenever you visit. The hard landscaping itself makes for an interesting experience. The garden is divided up into several different zones or ‘garden rooms’. Usually when I visit I make a tour of the whole garden and try to see as much as there is to see, The Tulips, the kitchen garden, the parterre, the lake, the pond, the woodland walk and wildlife garden, the fern garden, the stumpery, swiss cottage, the Egyptian style garden. All the elements are certainly worth the visit. However on this occasion I decided to focus on the Chinese ‘China’ Garden, simply because it was not open at my last visit. The china garden has a small lake, with fish and ducks, and oriental style bridge, and a beautiful oriental, chinese influenced pavilion overlooking the lake. The garden is located in a shaded hollow and has a microclimate. I could spend the whole day here. On this occasion there was a sudden, dramatic downpour. the heavens opened, the rain poured, there was thunder and lightening. I captured it on my camera and put some atmospheric music to it. I hope you enjoy. A truly beautiful British Garden and Stately Home.

Hidden treasures of the National Trust.

  1. I like an established garden, nurtured and manicured. And the rain made it feel relaxing, I could almost smell it. Thanks for another 'tour' video.
