I might take your idea a step further by installing water reservoirs at the top, with a stopper, to control water flow or completely stop it.
Alternately, will also experiment with a cotton wick instead of plastic tubing.

沒陽台可用…
只好做個架子架高再在架子腳用鍋子盤子之類的容器裝水隔絕爬蟲類生物入侵架上種植菜箱的途徑
