Just bought three of the large watering trays from my local pound shop for £3 each. Bargain I thought. 🙂
Nice post, roasting down here civentry, 👌
For my larger container I've been using straw or dried grass clipping to mulch over the top and around the plants. Seems to help stop the larger container drying out as fast.
I need some drip trays as well next time I'm down the shops 👍
Ivan What are the odds i have two of them Soil moisture meters coming later :)))
Iv just had to cover the greenhouse in a sheet its hot hot hot, All my plants looked sad and i caught a cat sleeping in my greenhouse.
Its quite nippy here and very windy so all my plants are back in the greenhouse, maybe tomorrow I can plant some of the plants into the raised beds. Quick question I am growing Aubergine black beauty 🍆 for the first time would a 10 inch pot be ok? or do I need a bigger pot?
Thanks Ivan, great update and advice on watering, just ordered 5L pressure sprayer, will use it to help with the watering. Thanks for sharing.
exciting times to be gardening! I've just had a knee OP but hopefully in a couple months ill be back pottering about, And yes those small pots can dry out in half a day if your not careful, I also find that you can water more consistently by bottom watering as the soil kind of just absorbs what it needs and therefore can help you gauge how much your plants actually want. Keep up the great work Ivan, Always Enjoy your Vids! don't change anything just keep making things better 🙂 hope you have a great rest of your day!
Also with drip feeders you can use all kinds of things, Ive used bottles and just put some small holes in the lids and or around the bottle and bury and fill with water OFc, or even hang up some bottles to drip from a height Just of course make sure its dripping on the soil and not the plants as you dont want to burn your plants on a hot day, I know you Already know most of this Ivan but I'm just being detailed encase someone else reads this and finds it useful. All the best and happy gardening everyone 🙂
Thanks Ivan, for all this great info' and advice on how to check that your plants are watered enough and how to deal with it correctly. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Lovely warm days but we are still going down to 5% at night ,, keep getting really healthy cucumber seedlings but they get to about 5 inches then die on me think my soil was to dense so got some coco to mix in for the latest lot , wish me luck😏
I save large mushroom trays and tinfoil trays 🙂
I'm so so happy we get a double helping of Ivans garden this weekend. I absolutely love this channel. I watch religiously every day I'm thankful for your hard work an knowledge Ivan. Im learning something new every day.❤
good idea's, is getting HOT !
Que buen video
Some great advice Ivan 👍. I use watering trays in my greenhouse and have tomato pots in them. They were brilliant last year in that hot summer.
I’ve just poppped my toms and peppers in the greenhouse. Greenhouse is showing lows of 7 degrees at night is that ok or should I fleece them.
Hi Ivan. I noticed you’ve got 4 long’ish wooden planters on start of your video (1.10mm a in ) are they from wooden pallets. What size do you recommend to build them because I’ve got some pallets coming. how deep should I make them and should I use plastic lining inside (with drainage obviously)
Good advice to keep yourself hydrated too. Also, wear a hat. Any old thing will do – it's not a fashion parade. I check out the charity shops for something light with a good brim, preferably cotton or raffia types. It spares me some evening headaches (and potentially, sunburn or skin cancers). After a few seasons – when it is tatty – turn it into a cute flower cache pot or just lob it into the composting. Cheers.
