Same here Ivan. Just hoping the Fall is as late as the Spring has been. Tomatoes may be going out this week. Fingers crossed!
wew've had hailstones in july before now., leaving all large leaves looking like they were peppered with a shotgun……………..brian
I echo your sentiments, my greenhouse is pretty bare. On the plus side the stuff I've grown is now outside except tomatoes and chilli plants…Strawberry's for some reason are a write off for me..ah well , every years different
The strawberries I grew from seed last year. Are all fine but for the fact I've no flowers at all. And I'm now cutting off runners. The other strawberry varieties I have in the same patch have flowers. So not sure what happened there.
Great daily videos 👍
I'm not sure if 'misery loves company' is the best feeling, but it's nice not to be alone. 😏Time to ramp up my positive attitude. "You can't break me, I'm a rubber duck – quack, bounce!!" Cheers.
Newbie here…. container gardening…. what I have noticed is some strange _'bright green spheres' in the compost… different brands and price range…to varying degrees!!!!! Anyone else noticed or have an idea what these are ??…there not feed as this is usually a yellowish colour…My plants have not grown much and are wishy-washy in colour…🤔
Some of your tomato plants look really good. Mine are not as near as tall. I do have a question for you. If tomato plants are hardened off, would you put them out in the ground if a lot of rain is expected or wait a day or 2 until it is drier?
Slugs are driving me crazy too. My husband goes out in the morning with me, me with scissors and him with a pocket knife and we go around doing mass murder while we wait for the kettle to boil for the first tea. It's the only way. I think we're only just now finally getting the numbers under control. Good luck and happy hunting?
Those tomato plants are looking great Ivan, going to start hardening off mine this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
The weather is all upside down because they are messing with it look up chemtrails. (to push home the climate change BS/narrative.
After those thunderstorms and we had hail everything stopped dead. Nothing growing!
Hi Ivan.
An old adage "Cast not a clout till May is out".
In essence, don't worry plants catch up (they are smarter than we think) because they have a natural cycle as well.
It'll all work out in the end…
Hopefully.
Many thanks for the vids.
Hi Ivan why don't you use slug pellets? ❤
Thanks Ivan, "Swings and Roundabouts" is another old adage and one growing year in England doesn't usually replicate itself the year after. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Very informative video Ivan thank you. I can’t dig anymore so it container growing for me too.. I’ll be following you with interest..💚
broccoli bolts when its too hot (all brassicas). maybe shade? remember their leaves can also be eaten instead if the head goes. Sending love and light!
Just got to cut your losses ivan i just cleared a bed of sparsely germinated carrots but i will resow a variety next week that will last over the winter. I took all my brocolli out of the tunnel for the same same reason. 👍
I always grow my runner beans and dwarf beans in large containers and don't get slug damage. Why not try some for your container garden. Love your channel.
The leaves are still good in stir fry or steamed like spinach. Not a complete waste if you use them that way.
When you say ‘we’ who else dyu you garden with as we only see you?
Yup shit happens lol , funny how flower plants just grow the same each year but crop plants can be a bit of a pain in the bum , I grow all my crop plants in containers it saves me lots of trouble and are a bit easier to protect only thing is got to water a lot more through the growing season even in xxl containers but because of that you see the plants more and can sort out any problems earlier . Top channel 👍Top man 👍 Thanks Ivan 👍
Ivan Im putting almost everything in pots and containers the only things i'm putting in greenhouse are some tomatoes and very very hot peppers, i grow runner beans and French beans in big containers last year, The runner beans got to about 8 foot tall i had to use my ladders to pick them.
Thank you. I thought it was just me.
Very reassuring to hear what you are saying as I am going through the same with my gardening. Thank you!
Very reassuring to hear your comments. My tomatoes are not very big either. Has to be the weather. Yesterday was first day to start feel the heat in the air.
Great advice. Good help for my hopes to grow in containers this year. I’ve decided not to use grow bags this year. Soil in containers which can be moved around.
Thanks.
My Father in Law was a farmer, and whenever you'd suggest it was unseasonably hot, cold, wet, dry, snowy, windy, etc., etc., he'd immediately recall all the years when it was more extreme going all the way back to the 1930's.
I can only remember the year it went down to -3 deg C here on the 4th of June, and I'm over 100 miles south of Derbyshire. (I camped in Derbyshire several years ago when it was -3 C, but the biggest problem was the noise of quarrying nearby).
Yep weathers been tough. Just glance outside now and the plants seem to be booming. Im doing more containers now too but may have lost a new apple tree
Ive just got over the last frost, i have potatoes and onions planted i potted tomatoes and when the weather got bad brought them in. So im well behind planting too.
👍👍
Thank you for this honest video Ivan. We built a DIY wooden and plastic greenhouse in April and some of my seedlings are a little behind compared to others. It's interesting seeing what thrives and what seems to struggle out of everything we've planted. I follow a few gardening channels, but yours has become my favourite. Maybe it's a northern thing 😉 Looking forward to the next vids 🙂
Container garden is coming on a treat Ivan 👍. I loved the way you pointed to a cabbage white as a plane was flying over, that's some butterfly 😂
