The garden is getting mulched, the warm crops are starting to grow and I plant up my larger pepper plants. I talk about the importance of matching what you plant to what you can harvest and consume and other thoughts and rambles as I walk my gardens.

  2. How old is your nectarine tree? I have one I planted two years ago. It keeps flowering but no fruit and I don’t know how long they take to produce fruit.

  3. Maybe put a very healthy amount of bone meal with your broccoli? The slow phosphorus could really bring in the success

  4. I appreciate your comments on chemical vs. organic treatments in your garden. Life is chemistry. The more we understand the products we use, the better. But most folk don’t understand chemistry, because it requires study and is not easy. And there’s a lot of misinformation out there.
Watching your videos helps me learn and gain confidence. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Found ur channel glad to see someone from my hometown I have a small balcony garden it’s really been crazy weather this year and I started more/different vegetables and herbs this year inside and glad to see some one with same weather conditions looking forward to seeing more container gardening information coming season .

  6. Great Looking Garden Gary, You are way ahead of me . The Blueberry bushes look big. Did you plant those since you have been at that property or were they already there? I tried a few bushes but the deer have destroyed all but one of mine and it is not doing very well. Any tips on blueberry bushes?

  7. We got a new tractor mower so I can use that to haul mulch to the garden. Been doing that today. How old is the first nectarine tree you showed?

  8. I live in Maryland zone 6B. I get root maggots every year in my onions, do you have this problem? Any suggestions on how to prevent?

  9. Love your garden ramblings! Kind of how my mind works anyway…just rambling!šŸ™ƒšŸ™‚

  10. You have a beautiful garden! Gardening can really start to feel like an addiction for me but I just keep saying, at least it’s not drugs šŸ˜‚

  11. Question. Why is some of my broccoli forming crowns and some isn’t. Is that a Fertilizer issue? Thanks for all the amazing videos

  12. I'm finally caught up on harvesting my Swiss Chard. I need to prune back my New Zealand spinach, harvest out my tatsoi, and take a second cut from my Japanese Giant Red Mustard, I'm starting to get squash. One of my plants, Yellow Scallop, came from cross pollinated seed stock. Its fruit is round instead of pan shaped, and ha green variegated lines leading me to believe it was cross pollinated from a zucchini plant. If it tastes good, I'll keep the seeds and regrow for its weird look. It almost looks like a miniature pumpkin, thin skin, and pale color. I'm still getting a lot of peas. Next week is harvest week for my red potatoes. Today, I saw my first Japanese beetles of the season. It is early, I shouldn't see them until mid June, or later. I'm making notes for next spring's garden, adjusting quantities of plants—less Swiss Chard, Komatsuna and Boc Choy exclusively in fall garden, and add acidity to soil PH 6.8-6.9.

  13. I want to get on my soap box for just a minute. Fertilizers are the same elements wheather derived from so called natural products or synthesized. Organic insectacydes will kill all insects good and bad. Very few are selective. I think too many new gardeners are afraid of doing something wrong. It seems to have become a moral issue. It is not. Just grow a garden and enjoy it without guilt.

  14. With the forecasted switch to El Nino, do you factor that change into how/what you'll be growing? My area in Socal is projected to be cooler than average, so Im delaying my summer cover crop of cowpeas in favor of growing more tomatoes.

  15. Gary sounds excited about his garden, honestly that's how l feel about mine. Plant are getting excited too, so are the rabbits.

  16. Thank you for not shaming people who use ā€œchemicals.ā€ My grandpa swore by seven. I try not to be anything other than organic, but being a nurse I know that sometimes you need the big g*n$ to solve the problem. Thank you for being real and for teaching us in a way that is easy to understand!
