Come and plant with me! I am planting up the West Side Garden on a hill to help hill erosion. I have brand new plants that are available in 2023. I shopped at Creekside Nursery in Dallas NC, and New Hope Greenhouses and Garden Center in Gastonia NC. I have a brand new canvas that I can plant up and make a fabulous picture with lots of color. I have chosen lots of Proven Winners plants from my plant haul. I have labeled plants and have included pictures of these plants while in bloom. I am super excited to see all these gorgeous blooms this summer marry together. I brought you along while I placed out my plants. I planted up a Hardy Hibiscus with you with my Power Planter Auger. I included a tour of this West Side Garden on a steep hill at the end of the video. Sit back and enjoy.

  1. I’m in zone 5b I had one that came back the next year so I bought more and this year one came back

  2. Hi Kim, your side yard looks like it has a slope. Do you have a problem with your mulch moving? I have a sloped bed and when we get heavy rain, the mulch escapes my brick edging. Any tips? Love all of your plants.

  3. I bought 5 PW butterfly bushes, 2/5 survived. My soil is full of clay and my soil is pretty wet, and our winters are super wet too. I planted high…. but not high enough I guess

    They're tricky, good luck!

The one that survived was amethyst butterfly bush

  4. Everything looks lovely. I just planted my first PW Pugsters as well. I’m just east of CLT zone 7 b and am still trying to figure out the drip irrigation for them. Any suggestions on how often and how much to water once the rain stops for the hot summer? I was thinking of starting with 1/2 gal emitters.
    Thanks!

  5. Hello Kim, new gardener here. I love your gardens. So beautiful. I am in zone 9b, very hot and dry. I see that your side yard is sloped a bit. is it difficult to plant on a slope? Mine is sloped as well and any tips would be nice. Also, on the west side would’nt the hydrangeas have a tough time? I planted a couple before understanding the micro climates in my yard. Now hung some shade cloth for this season. Will probably have to move them this fall :-(. Mine are not paniculata. One is Tuff Stuff Red and the other is Tuiff Stuff Ah Ha.

  6. Beautiful transformation of your hillside. I have my eye on a few of those plants as well. I'm a huge PW fan our big box and nurseries are starting to carry more of this brand.

  7. Everything looks great, and that pink rose is so pretty! You might know this already, but there's a street sign visible a few times in the video.

  8. Kim just found your channel today. I love Jenny watching Jenny at Creekside Nursery. I’m a fellow North Carolinian close to Raleigh. I had to smile when I saw your clay soil because I suffer from that also 😅. Looking forward to more of your videos!

  9. It feels cool when you see lots of green plants.
    Greetings from Indonesia.

  10. Russian Sage is a tough to grow plant. I'm in Charleston, SC and I think the plant likes straight Desert conditions more then our high heat and wet humidity. But for me the Denim and Lace has done better then the more common types I tried. The Denim and Lace looks fairly strong on its second year here. I think its better to barely water it and I would keep it off of a drip system.

  11. This was helpful for a new garden bed I started. May I ask how you keep your roses so clean of aphids and such?
