  1. Cleaning up garden beds, covering soil in prep for spring. Turning my attention to my indoor plants. Might try basil inside – NY.😀

  2. Here in zone 5b in upstate NY we just had our first couple of killing frosts after a mild autumn. I’m in the process of moving so not sure what I will do this winter. However, last year I was able to grow dwarf peas, romaine lettuce and basil indoors under not the best grow lights but it got me through winter.

  3. Hey Robbie I just received my mushroom plant it is so beautiful I am so excited. Just wanted to let you know even though I'm in Pennsylvania and its cold here now I'm still growing….in my house!! Thanks Robbie your such a wonderful lady and I just love you and your videos and Gary,Kitty,Molly and all your fur babies.😊🦎🐾🐾🗑👍🙏💕🐝🐦💐🌿

  4. I’m in NorCal (9b) growing brassicas and trying to take cuttings from last-year’s kale. Would love more info how to do that successfully!

  5. Robbie I'm in Ohio zone 6, and I still have turnips , bok choy , swiss chard, carrots and lettuce still doing great on a raised bed.

  6. ???? You have really good ideas that can be tweet to fit most climates or zones. Can you buy a list of favorite gardening tools, like the tomato stakes you use, the clips and zip ties you use, and where to purchase them? I know you are at thrifty shopper 🙂

  7. Glad you asked! Coming to you from Southeastern Colorado a few miles outside of pueblo. Zone 5 b68. We get lots of sunshine, but that's a double x sword. The sun's rays are very strong here in Colorado. We have temperature fluctuations in one day yesterday's high was 80 degrees while tonight's low will be 31 many days can be extremely hot and windy and weister. Pests I've encountered are flea Beatles and cabbage moths on the brassicas and right now we have tons of grasshoppers for some reason. Plenty of squash bugs that I can't seem to get a handle on. So a video on pest control would be wonderful! I won't be able to start new plants right now except for garlic for next year which I have, but the greens, onions, and carrots are still growing and providing food. But soon the ground will be frozen solid for a couple of months. So all of your info on container gardening and the system you created is going to be super helpful for next year. I would appreciate another video on what I can do now to get prepared and ready to plant for spring, which I can do in March and april. As long as the containers have some protection.

  8. Oh your 16 year old is soooo adorable. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Senior pups are so precious. It is amazing how they can get around even when they are blind. Give her some extra love from me please.❤

  9. Hi Robbie and Gary, thank you so much for your videos, inspiration and enthusiasm! You have truly helped us through these interesting times more than you know. Do you have a public email address? Would love to send you some photos of our container garden that you inspired us to grow. Many thanks from rural Victoria, Anna and Andrew xx

  10. No gardening here in Manitoba.. First snow yesterday and still snowing. I received some perennials yesterday from Veseys seeds. So i was outside planting the roots into the ground beside the house until spring. This summer i started a container garden and will expand next summer because it is so much easier for me as i am 70 and have a hard time bending. Thank you for your wonderful ideas. You and Gary are an inspiration.

  11. Hi Ms Robbie. I'm in Southern CA. Abt 20 min from LA… up until this yr, I was not growing anything in winter bcuz everything I planted did not work out for me. This yr however I decided to really try harder. I'm currently growing Spinach, Carrots, cilantro and Broccoli in backyard garden. I'm planning to grow more in next winter too. Slowly getting to a "year-round" garden growing. Even though I'm growing little bit of crops this winter, there's always things to do out in the garden. Cleaning and amending soils 💚 thank u for ur videos. I have used some of ur ideas. I have a "farmers market" section in my garden… it really is a bunch of container and Totes at arms reach so that we can harvest veggies as easy as if we were shopping at grocery store. Love it! I wish I could send u a picture 😊 You are an inspiration!

  12. Please SEAL the balcony boards. The moisture will build up under the containers, regardless of drip pan, just because it’s cooler. Mold will work at the wood, visible or not, Use a paint with sealant in it. Or. Buy cheap furniture feet to raise containers off the ground.

  13. Also, all plastic degraded and releases estradiol. I suspect that’s why in urban areas there is higher level of early puberty, pms, pmdd, and men with. Never mind.

Oyster mushrooms can digest plastic along with other funguses. As mycelium is the gut biome of plants.

So drop a mushroom in each container.

  14. Make a dog garden for kitty. Carrots and grass mixed together. Wrap it in tulle under table and put lockable cat door so you can let dog in and keep rabbits out

  15. I couldn’t get totes but I found you can garden in a cardboard box.

    1. You can stack contact paper to a box to make a water resistant container.

    2. You can line box with cheap painters tarp. Staple or clip it with paper clips to top. Can cut a hole in the side and insert top of water bottle with silicone caulk to make a drain port. Then just use cheap paper or edible plant to decorate outside.

I do these for giveaway pots. To encourage kids to grow. Especially in the budget crunch of pandemic.

  16. I have been able t garden outside in containers using what’s called a greenhouse blanket.

my DIY mini greenhouse will trap heat in the day. But plastic has an insulation value of R1. so I literally tuck my plants in at night with a waterproof pet blanket. Natural wool would be better. If you put on at sundown, the heat created by the sun will remain due to higher insulation value of the blanket.

  17. vertical gardening seems like a natural for your spaces, let the sun lovers make shade

  18. hey , I'm learning so much from u. now that I HV my container garden going , its along the back of the house and around my deck and on my deck . looks so great maybe not picture perfect but beautiful to me . I arranged everything so my husband would HV no issues weed eating and mowing . so I first noticed lots of lizards, OK that fine now I HV seen three snakes , yes they are the harmless black snake and one garden snake . but I can not bare this I'm scared to death . I was not aware I'd draw snakes , mom said because of the moisture, and food source of lizards . what can I do ?
