Hey, the Nicole Arch Trellis from Gardenary is stout and looks a lot like Monica's arch. We are grateful to have purchased one this year. 🙂
After many years fighting the birds or our fruit, we built fruit cages around the beds. Works great and lets pollinators in.
A bridge feels too forced in most landscapes. Where your planned pond sits, it will have a nice canopy from all the trees you have lining the back of the former formal garden. A rich, green airy border of tall grasses like Karl Forester Feather Reed Grass, Fountain Grass or Giant Papyrus dotted around the pond will make it feel like a magical destination.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! 🌷
Love you in the blue striped blouse. So much better than the black.
Thanks for the re cap video…..Always enjoy them….Hope you have a great Mother's Day !
Munstead wood rose tolerates shade more than most! It actually makes the color more deep and rich!
Looking for the video on using deadweed if anyone has the link?
I love to see the changes and they do happy fast in the spring .
Love the weekly recap videos 🙂 what is that pink drink next to you? Looks delicious!
Hey Laura just wondering if you have found any tulip varieties that have naturalized well? Also where do you recommend getting h those varieties from? Thank you so much!!
The PPE comment! Bahaha! 😂
I have Coral Knock Out Roses growing and flowering nicely in morning sun/afternoon deep shade and it's doing fabulous after 3 years…..I am surprised but will be adding more Knock-Outs in this same area. Just for information. I'm in Zone 7B
I’m in the UK (roughly zone 8/9) we do get some sun but it’s nowhere near as much as Laura gets. Especially this spring, it’s pretty much rained nonstop since January! I have Eustacia Vye, The Queen of Sweden, The county parson, Grace, Gertrude Jekyll, Desdemona, Benjamin Britton, Jubilee Celebration, The generous gardener and Ghislaine De Feligonde David Austin roses in my garden. They all do beautifully regardless of our rubbish weather. In fact I have Eustacia Vye and The country Parson planted at the back of my Hosta bed. They only get about 3 hours of morning sunlight before going into deep shade for the rest of the day. They bloom prolifically despite their lack of sun.
We love your garden tours! Bring them on!
Cats add character😂😂😂
Laura, you could also 'grab' all of the flower arranging videos you already have done (which is heaps) and start another small channel just for that ✌🤞
Boy, are you telling the truth when you say "wait for a Frontgate sale". They are very expensive.
I can't find Land and Sea compost in my area; however, any quality compost has been very difficult to find in my area and expensive once you do find it.
"Bloom where you're planted!", in your case, with regard to the elevations you have.
Lol!!!! Being a bit sassy! I love it! We need a tidge of sassing in our lives. Have a laugh! Thank you for your time, information and sass!🤣❤️👍
Do you have multiple water wells? Our water well would never be able to handle that quantity of water. Wish it could.
Happy Mother’s Day!!
Regarding the unsightly daffodil remnants, I braid them, twist them and tuck them under, or you can rubber band them until they are finished feeding the bulb. Looks a lot tidier!
Happy Mother’s Day Laura!
Great recap, love to watch this every Sunday. Happy Mother's Day Laura
Regarding the blueberries, many people build little cages for them to keep the critters from getting them. You could put them in a raised bed, then put in some posts and wrap the cage in black bird netting, so it still looks decent, but does the job.
Can you show us what "cheat grass" is? I just moved from MI TO NV, and we didn't have it in Michigan. I just wanted to know what to do to keep it "out of the area like Aaron was trying to do in meadow area. Our hillside is dry, dusty going down to a road below. Sage of course we have, with wildlife scampering around, squirrels, quail, doves, etc.
I planted 2 rose plants into ground at top of the hill behind home, mixed with compost & miracle grow moisture soil as its 7a, 5200' elevation. Wish Land and Sea compost that i could find back in MI, I've noticed this area is alot dryer then my lush mi weather. Used fertilizer from PW, but noticed ground drys quickly in our elevation, possibly like yours, high desert. How often do you fertilize, I don't have PW approved garden centers near me in Reno. Oh what difference a "Great Garden Centers" back in Michigan were .. miss them
Love Aaron's berry net house idea haha
Laura, you need to reply that you all are plantrepreneures, lol!
I have a climbing rose bush and it must be 25 years old but last year it had red flowers and white flowers on it..never before..is that common? I been going to remove it for years because I hate the thorns but never got around to it because it was a gift.
Regarding a good rose for shade: I have planted Darlow's Enigma, a climber that performs well in part shade. not full shade, mostly morning sun with dappled afternoon shade. It is very fragrant and it has small white blooms, about the size of a blossom tree bloom.
whatever your drinking looks delicious, what is it? your yard is very beautiful. it seems like to much work for me older and have health issues.
The most shade tolerant rose I know of is Zepherine Drouhin and even it needs a minimum of 4 hours full sunshine. It’s what I grew 30 years ago on the “shadier”, but still half day full sun, side of my then house and I have had one planted next to my porch now for over 10 years, which has a small overhang and only gets about half a day sun. I don’t know of any that will take real shade, and less than a half day sun, and still bloom well.
Don’t forget your local Cooperative Extension office…ALWAYS a wealth of information!!!
What I want know is what Laura was drinking? The pretty pink liquid just looked delicious and refreshing and I was focused on it for the entire time. 😀😀😀
Laura and Eric, watch this video for some blueberry enclosed structures. This looks like something you would do! Your Style.
