Today I wanted to share how my team and I have joined forced with David Austin Roses to plant over 200 roses that we’ve specially selected for fragrance and hips. I’m often fascinated by crops that strike a balance between edible and ornamental, and in the last few years I’ve been blown away by the amazing versatility of these beautiful and delicious plants. Join me in this fifth video in a new, more informal, video series to share thoughts, ideas, and discoveries as close to real time as possible – happy watching!

Great
Rose syrup and rose jam are perfection
This is really exciting!!! ❤Both your and Gaz Oakley's work are "pushing" me to take the plunge myself. I used to have a large rose garden that I established in my early teens – we used to make cordials regularly, and rosehip jam from the wild ones in fields and we used to dry them as well, for tea! I recently came back from exploring Pembrokeshire and bought some lovely meadow tea, with wild rose petals, chamomile and mint at the base of it, it's absolutely amazing and fragrant. I'm really looking forward to that rose garden grow! Happy days! 🌱🌹😍
A good title would’ve been “these hips don’t lie”
We’ve yet to try rose hips- haven’t tested the soil where the rose garden are grown, but will have to get our hands on some soon!
Can you please tell the names of the Edible varieties again????😊 thank you
Nice! I will have to watch more diaries to find out why the fruit trees are supported like they are.
Absolutely loving this Diary series, may sound silly but I didn’t even realise that different Roses had a different taste?! We were really lucky that our land already had lots of established Roses on it when we moved in and now I’m going to be going round and tasting them all 😂 -G,x
Love all the roses will look & smell divine in a few yrs
Since the flowers and hips are used, it would be technically a perennial fruit!
Hello Huw🖐️
Lovin' the diary series, relaxed and fun. I love roses, you can never have too many!
