On a recent trip to a Dollar Tree Store, I found some things that I can really use out in the garden. As you would expect, I found some seed packets that were 4 for a dollar. I’ve already planted the seeds from those. I also found a hummingbird feeder that was priced at $1.25. We already feed the hummingbirds, so I know I can get some use out of that. For those who weren’t aware of it, hummingbirds are very territorial. Because of that, it’s a good idea to have more than one feeder. That way the less aggressive ones can still get some food while the more aggressive ones are at the other feeder. Last but not least, I found some stackable pots. They were priced at $1.25 for each level. One level has 3 pots that are joined together. They had 3 different colors at the store I was at, so I bought 5 of each color. For those who watch my channel often, you will see the stackable pots in use in a few weeks or so. Please check out the link to the hummingbird video on my other channel. I like those stackable pots. I grew my herbs in them .
Great to see a part of your gardening arsenal. Those stackable pots look interesting and very useful. Enjoy the weekend. Cheers!
The Canadian version is 'Dollarama', but everyone just calls it 'The Dollar Store'. They have seeds for 3/$1. We can tell from the back of the seed package that the seeds are from 'McKenzies', which is a popular Canadian seed company.
The store also has those same stackable pots and hummingbird feeders.
We're still waiting for the Rubythroats to arrive. We are at the northern edge of their migration. The past two years I've spotted the first Ruby on May 15th. I have 3 feeders out in case they come early.
I did NOT expect a beat to drop. 🤣
I was expecting Flight of the Bumblebee! Well played, sir! 🫡🤣
Really cool dollar store haul. We have the stackable pots and hummingbird feeders at our store as well. Last time we were there we nearly bought both of those so cool to see another gardener get them and use them. Got to grow on the cheap. Great video. Thanks for the share!
The Petunias looked beautiful in those stackable pots. I'll have to see if the DT in my area still has some in stock.
That style of music was so unexpected🥰
We have a Dollar Tree right on the other side of the river from us, but I've never seen the garden stuff there. Then again I don't go there often. I do grow in stacked pots I have a Greenstalk leafy tower. I am going over to our store and see if they have it. I could make a nice herb garden in that. By the way I love the Greenstalk tower.
Im going to try lettuce in one tower and petunias in the other this year because your petunia tower was so pretty, but going to drill a hole down the middle for rebar because they always get blown over. Ive had them for three or four years. It surprises me that yours dont get knocked over. I always thought Kansas was windier than Missouri but maybe not.
Very nice video. Those are very pretty petunias. I have to say that those hummingbird feeders from the dollar tree are out lasting some more fancier feeders that I have gotten for gifts. When the bottom parts wear out from the hot sun, I put the bottles on the tops of short bamboo sticks so I don't poke my eyes out. I grow my strawberries in those stackable pots. I drill out a hole in the middle and mount them on a piece of rebar pounded into the ground for stability. They haven't tipped over. I'm growing the dollar tree yellow wax beans. They're supposed to be bush but in my garden they are half runners. Good news, I believe I have 2 Odapeno pepper plants that actually sprouted and grew. I have a couple of really small yellow elongated peppers. Bundaberg Rum Ball Tomato plants both died, I don't think they liked the heat by the fence. I have others away from the fence. The dollar tree has a lot of good gardening items. You just have to get there early or they're gone.
Have a great weekend.🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
I expect I don't have enough sun to get good use from stackable pots but am curious about them; the stacking certainly is elegant. Are you able to get plants to grow on all sides, or only part of the way around? Or do you turn them from time to time?
Great tip!!!!
Put those pots on some type of lazy Susan and you can rotate them every few days.
I bought one of those hummingbird feeders last year and got my money's worth for one season, but with our intense heat and sun it warped and wouldn't hold liquid this year. I hung it in my garden area, so even getting one season out of it was well worth it. I received a GreenStalk planter for Mother's Day a few years ago, so although not the stackable planter in your video, the concept is the same. I've planted herbs, flowers, greens, and some vegs. Right now it's planted with leafy lettuce, herbs, Tiny Tim tomatoes, and Thai peppers. Will swap lettuce for flowers in a few weeks. I planted lots of Dollar Tree allysum seeds all over my garden.
LOVED the video. “Hummingbird dance” to techno beat HAD to be the best Easter egg
Interesting and different video today, enjoyed it. I've bought the stackable planters as gifts but have never used them myself. Your petunia stack has me inspired! Wonder if keeping it on my patio with strawberry plants would work to keep the deer from skunking me!
I'm pretty impressed with Dollar Tree's selection this spring. I don't remember seeing the stackable pots, but I also wasn't looking for them. I got a couple of 7 or 8 inch plastic pots when I went, which are way cheaper than I've seen them anywhere else. I'm also a big fan of their wildflower mixes. I feel like they come with a lot of seeds for $1.25.
Good Afternoon Jim- Those are some great finds you have at the Dollar Store. Have not been in one is a while so perhaps I need to make a visit. Love hummingbirds but I have way too many squirrels that attack every bird feeder I put out. I expanded my mini garden off my deck this year but everything is wrapped in chicken wire to prevent them from burying acorns and digging up my plants. LOL It is always something and thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful weekend..
I really like those stackable ones. I'm going to Dollar general today I'll have to look and see what they have. Thanks for showing us. 🐝
Nice! I need to go check and see if there are any!!!! Marigolds would look good in them, too. And pansies!!!!
Lol I laughed out loud at the humming birds "dancing" 😂
I hope mine sells them.
Very timely because I can't find my hummingbird feeder and they are back in WI.
