  1. I agree. Colored towels are beautiful but white is the way to go. I spurge and get the bath sheets. Like you, I don’t buy towels often and getting the best towels in the beginning makes all the difference. It’s the little things that matter.

  2. Yes! White towels are the best! I too use dark towels when I color my hair. They're a lovely forest green, by Ralph Lauren. I've had them for so many years and they have held up so well. Bought them at Marshalls. I wish I had bought more of them.

Victoria was my favorite magazine for many years. I even named my daughter "Victoria". By far the most beautiful magazine on the racks, but it went downhill after Nancy Lindemeyer was replaced with Peggy Kennedy. Then it went out of print altogether. I was not surprised. It's been back for some years, but it's never been quite the same as the old Victoria.

I'm all about practicality, quality, and enduring style. You can't go wrong with that. Love the English cottage gardens and that well-established look. Just fantastic. Beautiful skirt and scarf you're wearing, btw!

  3. I love your videos!
    Thank you for your inspiration❣️
Today I’m starting some edible heirloom flowers. Roman Chamomile, Pansies, Lavender, and Nasturtiums.
I’m excited about to see how they grow and taste! 😁

  4. I love lily of the valley! My grandma had those all along the shady side of her house.
Victoria magazine was and is a favorite of mine too. There’s so much beauty in it. 🥰❤️
Not sure a Dahlia is a perennial, unless you dig up the tubers and store them. I’m in central Indiana and they can’t make it through our winters here. 🫤
So many exciting ideas! I’ll be watching for sure Sarah.

  5. cafe au lay is the pronunciation I believe. Lily of the Valley have such a short season. I love them too, but have to cut them fast or it seems they are gone. The same with lilacs. My 2 favorite flowers.

  6. Love your hair with the scarf tied in the back. You are so pretty! Yes, I agree, you are an old soul, but in the most flattering way! Love seeing your chickens and their eggs. How sweet! Also, I never thought about towel hooks! Where was I? I am going to the hardware store tomorrow, thank you!

  7. I thought Lily of the Valley are poisonous? I love them too but not sure I would decorate food with them. Love your channel ❤

  8. You probably already know this, but try ordering Bath Sheets as opposed to Bath Towels…the bath sheets are so much bigger.

  9. I have the Egyptian cotton white towels from "My Pillow". They are wonderful, thick and absorbent. I would recommend them all day long.

  10. Thank you Sarah. I must agree, I have white towels myself. They match everything . I myself love an English garden but I'm not a horticulturist.

  11. My favorite thing when I was in high school was sipping Earl Grey tea, munching on biscuits and lemon curd, buying something from Crabtree and Evelyn, decorating, and flipping through Victoria Magazine! 💝

  12. I have planted a cut flower garden the last few years. ProCut White lite is a lovely single stem pollen less flower perfect as a cut flower. Plant them approx. six inches apart. This keeps the size of the heads perfect for flower arrangements. There is also a ProCut White Night. It's a cute bright yellow with a dark center. Enjoy your garden!

  13. Loved Victoria magazine as a young bride. That magazine is so good at the details!! The garden sounds fab! Do you think your old towels are bath sheets? That’s what my hubby likes me to buy for him.

  14. Good call on pots for Lily of the Valley. I learned the hard way they are invasive! Now I grow them in a vintage galvanized tub set in a flower bed to keep them under control. I agree, they are so beautiful!

  15. Dahlias are not permanent, if you are in zone 8 or above you can leave them. Cold and wet ( rain) will cause them to rot. Even if you are in a zone where you can leave them- they are very easy to move. It will not hurt the plant. You can divide the tubers and gain more flowers! The point is- ut them where you want and if you don't like ti- move them somewhere else!

  16. I had to stop the video…..I'm sorry WHAT??? You decorated food with lily of the valley???? 😱😱😱 I mean I love them too as flowers, even as cut flowers, but the WHOLE PLANT is very poisonous!!!☠☠☠ Just please be careful!
"How poisonous is lily of the valley to humans?

The lily of the valley plants are extremely toxic. All parts of the plant can cause illness when eaten. It is categorized as having major toxicity. The lily of the valley contains several compounds that can affect the heart."

  17. ?????Lily of the Valley… Poisonous and TOXIC! Remove from your garden immediately! How much lily of the valley is poisonous? As little as two leaves of the plant can be a fatal dose in young children and pets. If this plant is present in your landscape, it is wise to remove it. Also, I like the wearing of Jewellery idea, from a passed loved one – but I have never received it from anybody that has passed away!

  18. Another sweet and helpful video! Thanks for sharing your plans with us and praying for success with your cut flower garden! It will be marvelous!

  19. Thank you for talking about those expensive towels and how they are not always worth the money. I have had a similar experience and felt so defeated. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I love Amazon basic white towels. My hubby calls them "our like hotel towels".

  20. I love Victoria magazine. I should have known you were Victoria magazine fan. And I am a white tile lover too and to my two grandchildren came to live with me for a couple months. And then those white towels went up into the closet.

I really love the waffle white towels from world market. They're affordable they're huge and they are thirsty. You should try them.

  21. Gorgeous dahlias! (Cafe au lait, say cafay oh lay. Say it fast. French is fun! It means coffee with cream.)

  22. Love Lily of the Valley. They need a cold winter to bloom. Better in the ground, although I'm sure you will have a large patch in no time. Remember they are toxic to dogs, horses and humans if consumed in quantity. I love their fragrance !❤ I'm excited for your garden!

  23. I absolutely understand about the Victoria magazine! I even kept most of them and have been going through them again this past while. They are still so beautiful and I have even been cooking some of the recipes. Top tier! As an artist I have painted from some of the amazing photos. Also love white towels! I always enjoy your style!

  24. A bath sheet is a lot bigger than a bath towel. I never use anything other than white bath sheets my married life of 54 years. I will never change.

  25. You’re so inspiring..especially with your thoughtful day to day personal “things”. Another perspective on towels…There are 4 females living in my home and so I’ve used fluffy BLACK towels for many many years. Don’t think I’ll ever go to anything else. They hide a world of issues (stains and more), I never have to treat them, and they always look sharp. I keep all other colors very light in contrast and my cottage-y, collected/curated home looks clean and crisp. Thanks for all the great content! ❤

  26. Oh my. I have copies of Victoria going back to the mid 90's. One thing I can't bear to part with. They inspired my business of 20 years, Thyme in the Garden. Their staging and photography were awesome. Their entrepreneurial articles inspired my business; dried flowers, herb gardens, floral design and a studio. These days they are used for collage in my art studio as well. Here in the northeast lily of the valley is a naturalizer so they are invasive. But I think you know that because you mentioned planting them in large pots. Beautiful and fragrant. Here dahlias have to be dug up each fall and wintered over in the cellar otherwise they would die in the winter. I have several bags of tubers I just bought to plant in containers. Love the John Deere tractor and your property. I always follow your channel.

  27. Lily of the valley is my favorite scent. I wish I could find a cologne.

  28. I love Lily-of-the-Valley! Such a classic flower with a wonderful smell…Muguet, as the French call it, is a classic perfume fragrance, but beware – all parts are toxic and can make people and animals ill. Thanks for your videos and ideas!

  29. I love Turkish towels for the pool and beach as they dry so quick and are large.
