  1. This is AWESOME!!!! I can't kneel or squat, so I could drill holes in the center of the corner blocks, stack them, and anchor them with rebar – voila, high raised beds! I'm so glad you shared this, Kate!

  2. If you use 2x12x8 board ,you don't need two pieces on the smaller side and it will be flusher against the brick.
Also use sticks and leaves in the bottom, you will save on soil.

  3. Use cardboard it will suppress the weeds and breakdown later on to help improve your soil.

2x12x8 us the best size to fit between the blocks.

Use leaves and branches in the bottom of the bed . They will breakdown to also enrich your soil.

  4. A thick layer of cardboard instead of weed screen would kill off the grass and encourage earthworms to penetrate the ground.

  5. Nobody is telling what they are doing, I am an idiot, I have never done it before, so I need to know measurements, name of tools, what kind of lumber to buy, where to rent tools, I am a single woman, that own my own home, for me Personally it will be easier to pay somebody to come and do it, No it’s not easy when you don’t know what you are doing, just explain, if u don’t like talking get somebody to explain it

  6. So bloody expensive and you never work the soil below. Stop being lazy people and buy a pitchfork instead! This crap has to stop!

  7. Why put soil under weed blocker? It doesn't improve soil but the cardboard suggestion will. I use it in my garden and I have very few weeds and my soil has improved with more worms and microbes… good start on the garden, we learn all the time

  8. Thank you so much for sharing! My girls 4 and 9 are looking forward to starting our first garden together!!

  9. Do you use a special wood? Is it pressure treated wood? I am making a list of supplies. Thanks!

  10. I told a Lowe’s employee that I wanted to do a raised bed and she showed me these. She said a 2×4 will fit. They had a demo up with two 4x4s flush against each other to create sort of a ledge. They were nailed together. It would cost under $40 per bed depending on the length. They can also cut the wood for you.
Thanks for sharing. It’s nice to see someone putting it together.

  11. With the weed block you will not get the benefit of worms coming out of the ground into your bed and leaving worm castings

  12. I tell everyone to use those bricks. They're quite inexpensive. Also, people throw them away when they redo their landscape. Just grab 'em when you see them.

  13. I use IKEA bags Large and cardboard. The important thing is to grow your own. No excuses.😍

  14. This is awesome. But I bet those materials have gone sky high like everything else. You have any suggestions on doing this the most inexpensive way possible? 😂

  15. If I plan to build over pea gravel is the weed block necessary? And how do you keep the critters out? Bunnies, squirrels and deer.. 1st year for me
