Doing a lot more this year quail rabbit have chicken eggs and the incubator have veggies popping already I finally got some to go.
gardening tip don't give up
There are thousands of ways to water your crops…. water them correctly.
After watching one of your videos I bought those motion sensors and it deterred the deer for about a month till they figured out it didn't harm them. I even moved them around. I bought different brands even. Those darn deer are pretty smart. I tried Billy's stuff too and watched a deer walk up to a tree to sniff it and drop it's head and munched.
Tip: plant what grows good in your climate
Zack do uou use genius gold group or is it just a sponser? I cslled but im uncomfortable cause i dont know them or anyone who has used them. Plz Zack, thank you for everything Tammy
3 Deer deterrents: Wal-Mart bags for sure! But also Irish Spring soap shavings and Peeing around your garden. The deer know it's human and won't come near! Also let your dog out. The Smell and barking will also keep deer away.
Rabbit deterrents: Human hair scattered around the perimeter of your garden. Also onions, garlic, leeks planted around the garden. If all else fails the Ol' Savage 22 – 4/10 will get the job done.
Ground Mole deterrents: Castor bean plants, marigolds, cayenne peppers and tobacco. (I have Plenty of free tobacco seed)
Gardening tips: Think outside, or rather, Inside the Box! Strawberries from hanging baskets. Herbs in containers around the deck/porch (they can stand partly shady areas). Leaf Lettuce in old gutters attached to porch rail or fence for easy access and no bending over.
Chicken Manure Tea: 1 part manure to 10 parts water. Let steep at least 3-5 days (more won't hurt) Stir once or twice daily. strain mixture thru an old pillow case. This is your Tea Base! Mix equal amounts of base and water for liquid fertilizer. Pour around the base of your plants. Do Not Use on root crops! The nitrogen will cause them to leaf out instead of producing veggies.
Rabbit Manure tea is great way of gleaning the nutrients of the bunny poop, their poop is very expensive so grab a couple of handfuls add water let it sit for a day or 2 days and then pour away.
I brought a couple of those alarms last year based on a video Zach did. Going to try them out this year. I have dear and rabit problems. The one I got dose dear and rabbits on the same setting. So I should be good.
Do it!
We got an amazing deal a few years back on 400 ft of sheep fencing. It keeps out the moose, deer, bear, cats, wild turkeys and most chickens. Voles are our problem. If I have too many night issues the LGD will spend time in the garden. The biggest issue we have is racoons eating the chickens. Curious about the neem must look into that, we only really get potato bugs and slugs right now for pests. What was that stuff you said you used for the sheeps udder for her mastitis?
Plant strong smelling herbs like rosemary and sage as well as marigolds around your garden and flowers. Critters don't like em!
Is the left leaning seed company rare seeds? I’ll delete this I just want to know!
My tip: Compost, Compost, Compost!
I found I get to keep more fruit and berries by building places for swallows to nest in and around my berries and fruit. They eat the bugs and are super territorial, so they chase other birds off.
I got so fed up with deer eating my crops i built a GPS guided robot coyote to scare them off! https://youtu.be/wJnCa2ggbjg
#1 garden tip: How to eliminate Squash bugs… aka.. sheild bugs, stink bugs, Satan's minions. There is a system that works. Step one is deterrance and I do that by planting radishes as an undercropping to any squash or melons and I plant out early. Step two is mulching with a single layer of sheet cardboard that can be lifted up because the little buggers hide in the mulch. Catch them and put them in a bucket of soapy water. Step 3 is the trap set out away from the garden: A strawbale saturated in a synthetic high nitrogen fertilizer (34-0-0 or as close as you can get), wet down, punctuated with yellow construction flags and squash plants lower leaves set out there with any stressed plants. They're going to target that bale and when the little blue ones show up… kill it with fire. Sometimes I'll take a credit card and scrape off the little eggs into a bucket of Dawn blue soap… most of the time I pluck the entire leaf and add it to the bale trap. Step 4: About twice a week, in the evening (it's important) after sundown spray soapy water all over your squashes and melons… really soak them down; then, rinse them off with water. I don't use antibacterial soaps because I don't want to harm the soil. I use a basic ivory flake or… if I spot an infestation (which hasn't happened in years) I'll use Dawn dishwashing liquid (the blue stuff not the concentrated stuff) and water… it strips the lipids off their shells and they die within a few hours. But be certain to rinse off the plants and avoid doing this in sunlight. That's it.
The motion detector noise set my dogs off while I watched the video. Good God if I had those I would go insane if my dogs heard them😅
Grower solutions ground fabric. Awesome. Keeps weed away keeps soil cool and moist. Very sturdy. Make my cornfield a breeze
