If you’re growing elderberries, it’s important to know how to prune elderberry bushes for maximum growth. In today’s video, I’m showing you how to do light and hard pruning as well as how to transplant and keep elderberry off-shoots from taking over an area.

I’m also sharing my newest favorite seed-starting tool, as well as how I’m using cold-frames in the garden to get a jump-start on the growing season.

  1. Turning on camera makes it rain, no , it just doesn't know when to quite raining in those states, thanks for pruning tips

  2. Have one of those auto-open cylinder things on a venting window in our greenhouse, but cannot figure out how to set it. Very frustrating, poor directions came with it.

  3. Oh my elder all ready have leaves unfolding, it's amazing how different a short distance and mountain range can make. Do you have any issues with deer or rabbits going after your elder while they are small.

  4. I have NOT been starting seeds as much like I have in the past. But I really do NOT have a place inside my home with lighting to keep THEM, SO I am waiting later into the yr to get started. See how this works or for me. 😆 outside in my garden,
I did plant some BLACK Vernissage Tom's, in small pots & put those pots in a half filled 5gal bucket add tom cage, coveted with green trash bag to make a mini greenhouse, it seems to be working so far. The had mostly all come up as of yesterday…

  5. Apparently recycled black plastic will be rich in heavy metal contaminants due to recycling machines being unable to detect them during sorting. Stay safe.

  6. I just got 4 elderberry plants this past week from my County soil and water conservation district! I’m so excited. I love the “tree packet” sales they have. $20 gets you 16 plants/trees. I got the wildlife packet. It has elderberry, hickory, persimmon and chestnut. ❤ Love your videos! God bless you and fam.

  7. I love epic gardening. The birdies raised beds they sell are also awesome! Made in Australia I believe. God willing I’ll be able to get 1 or 2 more this year to add in a super rocky area in the big garden. 😊

  8. So you're saying with my furnace not working I need to buy a heat mat for my beautiful tomato and Pepper starts. I guess while I wait for parts,, I'm running to the store. Lol

  9. GM Mellisa☕️. My garden may not be much this year😢 as I fell & have a compression fracture on L3 & stretched all 3 of the butt muscles🤬. So been down healing & haven’t started any seeds yet. We still have daytime temps in the 30’s & nights are in the mid teens 🥶. I believe we’re in the same zone.. I’m just dry desert lol.
Wish I could make it in May as I would ❤ to see your neck of the woods! I’ll be content watching you here.
    Have a wonderful week 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️

  10. I'll get the plant pots at the cemetery. People always throw them away when they replant their grave.

  11. I loved learning about the elderberries. I really would like to get some started. Great product reviews. I would love a cold frame. TFS 👍

  12. Melissa why don't you save the elderberry canes and grow them in water ? just need to cut them and once they have roots and leaves you plant them? can actually sell them:)

  13. I just got a very similar cold frame. The goal was to take carrots into winter. Currently I have cabbage in it and a few test egg plants. Even during the summer though, I plan to leave it open but plant peppers and squash. Hoping it will give them just a little bit of a bump.
