  1. I hatched a pod with my preschool class about 20 years ago. We had it in an aquarium and then let them free after we saw the results. No tips, just be patient and enjoy! The kids loved anticipating the hatch and seeing so many babies emerge.

  2. I tend to like the floral with the gold detail curtains.I do feel like the print is strong . Go with it But I do like I love the way your living room is now but change can be good .

  3. I became a “southerner” as a young adult but lived in many states as my hubbies’ career took off. It was fun and challenging to live in different areas and moving and decorating different houses. I guess I thrifted long before it became popular, each house “spoke to me” of how to decorate frugally. We couldn’t always afford what we wanted and always had to keep reselling in mind! My biggest gripe was how homes were usually built by men and didn’t really function as well as I would have liked. Very small laundry rooms as an example! I thought having a large playroom for kids, laundry area space with tv area would be more practical than formal living and dining rooms. I love seeing how others live and function in their different homes! Living now in Florida, I have more houseplants to tend to on my pool surround than flowers in gardens. Hot and now drought are too much for me. Sorry, feel like I’m writing to a dear friend😵‍💫yak yak.

  4. Hi Selena 😊 I had to laugh at the comment about Petes face when you said you discovered buying plants/gardening😂 Beung a horticulturist/ landscaper my husband's face was like that when I discovered vintage/antique jewelry! 😅 love the curtains with the gold ❤ oh how I miss my northern plants and bulbs ( too hot in Florida for them 😢) thanks for sharing ❤ love praying mantis, such a great way for pest control ❤️. Thank you!

  5. We had a praying mantis eat our butterflies. There were so many wings left behind under our Coneflowers. ☹️
I love the curtains with the gold, too!

  6. When we were little, my brother left a cocoon on top of the kitchen refrigerator. We had praying mantis all over the kitchen 😂😂

  7. I love the Sydney curtains!!!😍
Great tip about the hydrangeas!!! I avoid them because they have never lasted past a day or two! Now I know why. Thanks!!❤

  8. My favorite curtain is the one with a light green background and gold flowers. Seeing it in the room really made it pop. That pizza looked so delicious! Can't wait to see the colors on your new roses. Oh, what a mess. Water leaks are such a pain to find and repair. Glad you're looking for a silver lining. They're usually there if you look for them! Good job, Pete!

  9. Selena, we have been doing pre-mantis for almost 46 years of marriage. They’re great they’re fantastic. Do be careful put the packages in a cool dark place until you’re ready to put outside. Otherwise, if you have the mantis sac inside the house they can hatch out. We made a mistake about 10 years in the marriage. I put the egg sack on our VCR, and the next thing we knew we had hundreds a little baby praying mantis running around and we were scooping up with sheets of paper and carrying them outside. Good luck. They are a lot of fun. Our children have fond memories and every year they send us pictures of the mantises they have put out into their garden.

  10. Always look forward to your FUN videos. We are antique lovers too and always want to see how people decorate with them. Love your sweet smile and attitude.

  11. I am so very sorry about the water damage. We’ve had that before and it’s not easy to get that fixed but I know it will look absolutely beautiful once it’s all completely done love the drapes and I love all the plantings. Looking forward to seeing your garden more and sending hugs, love and prayers and kindness🙏🏼🌸👍🏼🦋👒

  12. I like your choice of drapes. I have had the preying mantis; simply put in crook of my crape myrtle tree, they did hatch and have had some ever since. They are very beneficial. By the way I live in central California; you should wait until it's warmer. Good luck!

  13. Good afternoon Selena – Excellent video as always, the garden's looking lovely and I truly admire the home decor you've chosen. 👍

  14. Can't wait to see those roses come out…what a killer root system they have! Look healthy!

  15. I could just watch Millie for forever. I miss my black and white Boston Terrier Clementine so much. They are the best 🌹💕

  16. Check out Martha Washington geraniums if you don't have them. I love to mix them in.. the one I like are pink and white kind of striped?? Google them you'll see. I do a romantic English and I just love to add these

  17. Love, love, love your vlog posts, Selena! Your videos are always so much fun, but these ones are especially so. Gorgeous flowers! Sorry about your water problems, but it looks like you have them under control. Good luck with your mantis babies! ❤❤❤

  18. Selena, things will work out, 🌈 Everything is going to look beautiful in no time, the garden, the kitchen space and the water issue 🫶🏼

  19. Have you found Laura and Aaron of YouTube’s Garden Answer? They have a gardening channel that I think you’ll love if you haven’t seen them already. They’re from Oregon, too. Just eastern Oregon (where I grew up). Go check them out. I love them!!

  20. I've been waiting for a new post forever!! Sorry so much turmoil, you are the most positive person I kmow, you always cheer me up. You guys will do great. Thanks for sharing.
I'll tell you a story that happened to me… I woke up in the middle ofvthe night, I thought it was raining really hard. After listening longer it was coming from the kitchen.. went in the floor was wet, opened the closet door, one of the water heater pipes sprung a leak and I could not stop it. Ended up calling police who cold the city water office and a guy came out 3 am to turn off the main. What a mess I had. So know your pain.

  21. You look so beautiful in that pretty blue blouse!
I’m so sorry your lovely wood floor got damaged. I hope you can locate some vintage wood flooring to replace it with. We live in Idaho and we came out to Portland to get some for our 1910 house. It was reclaimed straight grain old fir. New looks so much different. When you like old, nothing else will do, lol.

  22. I like how you keep it real Salena! Lol 😂 I like how you can laugh at such a big problem! It makes me think of the movie The Money Pit with Tom Hanks when the tube fell through the floor and he looks down and just starts cracking up! Lol

  23. So sorry you had this water damage.
I loved this vlog and look forward to seeing your garden this year! I agree on your choice for the drapes…they are so beautiful!!

  24. I’ve bought praying mantis before and when they hatch, there’s like hundreds of babies everywhere which looked kinda icky but I love them. Just be careful, they’ll kill and eat hummingbirds 😢 so just keep an eye on anywhere hummers might be.

  25. No Selina , you lost me when you brought out the Praying Mantis , I have such a fear of them .
But that aside I love your Vlog and I love it when you have your mum Shiela in them , I’m about the same age as her .I look forward to seeing you every week x

  26. I appreciate YOUR friendship, too, Selena! You are such a delight and these "hang out" vidoes are my favorite as well! 🙂 Take care!💐

  27. I'm so sorry that happened and I hope the damage isn't too awful.
My children used to raise spiny leaf insects and praying mantis. We'd have them in an insect enclosure and once they all had their first shed, we'd release the majority and keep a few as "pets" and they'd love for a very long time and get huge. They'd mate, males would usually get eaten, and then start again. Our garden was always full of them. They do eat aphids and beatles but they also like greens, so expect to have a few chewed leaves 😊 xx

  28. You look so pretty. Love you so much. Your taste vintage is so so good. Love your energy. Aussie xx

  29. Oh my. Yes, ups and downs. Those roses are amazing. I could not get over the size of the trunks. They look like a tree. Cannot wait to see how they do for you. I was hoping you were going to post a link to the shears and clippers. I am very interested in them for trimming my orchid dead bloom stalks. You are looking amazing and Pete is the best. So very happy that I came across your channel.

  30. 1I love the curtains you love! I love your white blouse! I love Homeworthy too! We must have good taste!

  31. Hang in there! I'm in the middle of it too and can't wait for them to finish so I can put my pretties back in place!!!!!

  32. We've been living in a 'construction zone' for the last 5 years so I totally feel your pain. One project keeps leading to another…and we have to move furniture from one room to another. It really does look like we're having an estate sale! Your home is gorgeous so all the pain is very well worth it!

  33. Praying Mantis are great garden insects. However, if you have hummingbirds, praying mantis eat them! I didn't believe this until I googled "praying mantis eating hummingbird". Beware it is gruesome.

  34. It’s too bad about the water damage. It’s good that you stopped it before it got worse. I went on vacation to come home to water, mold , buckled floors and kitchen cabinets hanging from walls. According to my meter it was 60,000 gallons of water. Unfortunately I lost everything. I’m grateful that we were able to rebuild and that my family was fine. I really enjoy your vlogs.

  35. Yesss I am addicted to #Homeworthy as well! I binge watch episodes over and over, especially my favorited home tours. But I love your channel as well. You and Pete are so darn cute!
