Gateway to the Arctic is a 6-part video series documenting the 2022 month-long expedition through Canada’s barren lands. The route is designed to explore the iconic landscapes of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut by attempting to travel over 800 km from the tree line of Great Slave Lake north to the Arctic Ocean.
We would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Akaitcho Dene and Inuit peoples whose ancestral lands we traveled through as part of this trip. We recognize that our own understanding and experience is limited, and that Indigenous peoples hold the knowledge and wisdom of their unique relationship with this land.

Absolutely fantastic trip, and brilliantly documented. Thanks for taking the camera. To the next one. Take care
Just binge watched them all. While my days of big ass trips like (anything like) this are over, I sure can appreciate the grunt slogs up river you fellas went through. Views were amazing! A truly wonderful trip with (as you said) a part two and completion in the years to come! I certainly will look forward to living it vicariously through the four of you. Thanks so much!
r adventures life my Spirit thank you
Really enjoyed Gateway to the Artic….sure you can finish in the future…thank you for sharing

Nice work fellas! Keep (safely) adventuring!
Gateway to the Arctic is one the best series I have watched on You Tube. A great adventure , thanks for sharing! Absolutely stunning landscape and congrats on your achievements.
Another Epic adventure guys. Loved every second that you shared with us. I’m curious, what mount and pole setup are you using for your GoPro in the stern?
Well done Guys, awesome as ever. Keeping me sane through a Saskatchewan winter.
What a magical experience. Great job guys.
@12:20. 😂😂😂
Guys, once again you've taken us along on a beautiful, exciting, exhausting journey. Well done. You were up against mother nature and of course, she always wins, but you simply made a change in plans and had a wonderful adventure and allowed us to come along.
Great trip and great series. What a mighty & determined effort though beautiful but very challenging terrain. Enjoyed the geological snippets … and it all took me back to my early career as an exploration geologist. Cheers!
Oh guys, what can I say?….a lot if you know me 😀
The only criticism I have is that it wasn’t like 20 episodes long. Just the best of everything. Film work, music (both choices and how much), setting, and the people. And even though you couldn’t make the planned trip, you made it even better for you.
There’s a lot of competition out there in this genre, and some of them bang on incessantly about schedules etc….but you? Yeah, ok, perhaps you planned too much, perhaps it was bad conditions, and you couldn’t make it. Did you cry, or bitch? No, you had an even better time. What a solid bunch of young guys. I hope you go again and finish it, but even if you didn’t, you had one epic trip.
Thank you so much for taking me along.
Oh and the fishing was amazing. I planned this year to be the year I go back to it, after my best fishing buddy, my dad, passed away. The fishing won’t be like what you did, but it’s given me a little boost to look forward to it anyway. Thanks guys
😢 I’m always sad when a series is over. Look forward to each video you guys put out! Epic journey boys!
Well done gents.
great journey boys 😃
Breathtaking gentlemen! So many thanks for bringing us with you. You all showed incredible fortitude, and grace under some horrible conditions and it has been a pleasure to see you come out on top in the end! Cheers to further adventures!! 💙 B
Absolutely LOVE living vicariously through your amazing trips. They really capture the essence of true wilderness travel. One minor boo boo however….at the VERY END of this final episode…1:11:21 you have closing credits and list your outfitter backup at JackPIKE and not JackPINE. I've dealt with Dan Wong and the Jackpine team (almost made it to the Horton before
Covid and old age beat me). They are a great organization.
UNREAL series – so amazing guys!! The shots of that esker you guys camped on in this episode are insanely good. Congrats on an awesome trip 🍻🛶
Despite the July ice, the dry rivers, the weather, the bugs and the terrain you guys persevered. What a trip. Thanks for sharing the journey with us. Already looking forward to your next adventure.
The boys have come a long way from Santoy Lake and the Diablo Portage. Thank you for keeping Northern Scavenger alive and bringing us along for the ride after all these years. Epic trip and great film.
Why don’t you eat more fish?!!! Man, those big lakers look so tasty.
Thank you. I really really enjoyed this.
unreal series guys! You never know how it will go but its all about the journey out there. The wildlife and fishing were spectacular. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for another amazing series gents – so inspiring! Love seeing the incredible Canadian landscapes through your lens. You guys planning an other Q&A?
Really appréciatif, thanks for sharing!
I hardly ever leave comments on videos, but I need to hand it to you guys. This series was one of the most inspiring adventures I've ever watched on YouTube. The comradery among you four was amazing. Even when faced with huge setbacks, you still managed to push through the pain and present a strong mindset. The barrens are an other-worldly beautiful landscape and it's wonderful that Canada keeps them protected for the sake of wildlife and adventurers like yourself. Now that summer's drawing close again this year, these video's have me itching for adventure. Bravo!
amazing unforgettable journey, both over the land and within yourselves….thanks for taking us along
Nothing like time in the northern reaches of our world. Thanks for sharing your adventure, and I can't wait for the next one!!
What a way to finish. I love that you mentioned how the JOURNEY is more important than the destination. ❤️ I was thrilled that you did a night paddle to allow us to witness that northern sunset /sunrise. It was magical to see, and I can't imagine how peaceful that paddle must have been. Thanks for sharing another one of your adventures with us.
“Ahgist” is not a word.
“Intresting” is not a word.
What an epic journey with some amazing people that are a true inspiration. Teamwork to overcome many obstacles, but also sharing laughs, jokes and some dubious cooking in an amazing landscape.
Thank you for all of the efforts that have gone into making this and I can’t wait for the next adventure.
Good Lads. Really enjoyed the series. Spectacular sights, and sounds. Thanks for sharing.
What an absolutely amazing trip and adventure. Amazing fishing, great video editing, great attitudes through out the trip, breathtaking videography of the area and wildlife, and all of the geological explinations. Very well done.
Marvelous, simply marvelous! As a retired forester, I love the bacpacking experiences that bring me to the world I love. Your world, as presented, is simply amazing. Thank you for a masterpiece of team effort always smiling… Thank you! Be allways safe…
Thank you for taking you on this adventure! Not sure if you can get anymore remote than this and looking forward to the 2023 plans!
What an Odyssey! Thank you so much for sharing a part of our country I may never see. Not sure how you can top this, but I hope you will one day. Great team work!
I was so disappointed in this episode…….because it was the last one in this series! Loved every minute of this!
Are you going to do a live Q&A? Or at least an outtake reel.😂
Thanks for the adventure! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for this fantastic voyage, truly enjoyed every part. ❤
So enjoyable gents! Inspiring! Can't wait to see what's coming next!
