Watching current events is surreal. Unfortunately, this is real life and much of it is beyond our control. We need to take charge of the things that we can control and do everything we can to be as self-reliant as possible.

In this video, we share 11 action items that our family is working on today to help mitigate the effect that the challenges in our society will have on us. We invite you to make your own list and get to work on your action items today!

  2. I have been feeling challenged lately to be more careful and mindful about my spending habits in general. My husband will be retiring in the next ten or 12 years and I know those years will go by fast! So I know I need to get into the fixed income mindset. This will definitely help with our finances in the current economy. Most importantly, I know that the Lord is in control and everything that has happened is happening because He told us it would in Matthew 18. I trust His leading in my life, so my heart is at peace because my mind is fixed on his Word. I don’t watch the news at all any more and that has had a very positive effect on my mental health.

  3. I want to know how do you stock up on prescription medicine if most of them only last a year. 4:09pm

  4. With an economic collapse or other events, social security will no doubt be stopped. Since we can't count on jobs or what we invested in over the years to provide for what we need, we may have to think about like-minded believers of families and friends sharing resources and even homes. So, I totally agree that working on relationships is at the top of the list of preps right under our relationship with God. If it's possible to know doctors, dentists, nurses, mechanics, herbal gardeners, etc. well that would be a bonus. Also, us working on skills that would help our group would be so valuable. Then our list includes the life sustaining basics of clean water, food, meds, first aid supplies and ways to shelter, keep warm & cool. Of course, security is a must even now. It will be almost impossible to protect ourselves from every assault this world is and will throw at us since it may take many forms, but to do what we can and live each day with as much hope and joy as we can and help others is what I believe we are meant to do. Thank you so much for the positive but practical advice and encouragement you provide. Well done!!! Prayers for all!!! 💕💕🙏🙏

  5. I'm risking offending ALOT of people but it needs to be said. OBESE people need to get their weight down to a 'normal' size for them. They eat much more than they need therefore use up more supplies. They are very unhealthy and have to take meds which may not be accessible or too expensive in the future. I wouldn't want to invite them to supper because I'd be afraid of giving up too much food. I like this channel alot but there isn't one person I've seen on it that isn't obese. It is time to get your health under control along with organizing in your home. This was said in love, not to embarrass you.

  6. If you can't find it, then it's the same as not having it……….EXCELLENT advice.

  7. You always have the most thought provoking videos! We are improving our health using herbal medicine, fertilizing/expanding our garden, and doing much needed maintenance/updates to our home.

  8. I made up a family preparedness workbook with dividers with pockets and it is arranged according to priority and goes from the spiritual to the temporal in priority—-this has been very helpful over the years—-this helps us focus when anxiety levels are high—-all of our information is accessible in this workbook and also in our start over kits and also with family out of state—-there is so much to do and so little time before everything falls apart

  9. I'm thinking alot like you. I've prayed about it. The Lord reassured me. He's got me. Trust in The Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. I'm still asking for wisdom. Still doing. But there's a peace in knowing my creator and redeemer will not abandon me… No matter what happens… In blessings and abundance… In scarcity and want…. In righteous times… In degenerate times. I can lift up my head, my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.

  10. As an older single Mom with disabled children, I was really glad to have invested in a portable charger so when I had a recent dead car battery, I was able to charge it myself. Highly recommend the investment for single people. As I am struggling physically with lawn maintenance, I am looking into replacing grass with ground cover so I don't have to mow on slopes and adding a motion-sensing light for security. Also, keep rotating and checking food; I was shocked to find a moth infestation in organic popcorn kernels!

  11. 1. Build and strengthen relationships
    2. Organize and de-clutter
    3. Top off your pantry
    4. Learn how to cook to save money
    5. Plant berries, fruit trees, and vegetables
    6. Stock up on medications
    7. Stock up on tools and supplies
    8. Personal and home security
    9. Take care of your health
    10. Secure your employment
    11. Choose happiness and hope

Thanks! What a great list to contemplate during these trying times:) I love how inspiring and upbeat y’all are in your videos!

  12. Thank you for posting this video, it is timely…it really helped to calm me. I know that sounds selfish; however, I've been struggling emotionally with all the craziness in our country.

Sometimes it's terribly overwhelming. Following specific steps as you outlined helps me focus on what I can do vs. worrying.

My family and I are poor but so very blessed: we have shelter, food, love and laughter. And we are most grateful to have your family sharing what we consider critical information.

    Blessings and gratitude 🙏❤

  13. We are working to get a fallout shelter/off grid home built on our vacation property. Figures crossed that the contractor can get this built soon!

  14. I know what you mean about decluttering. We have turned the garage/barn upside down looking for our large netting to go over our blueberry "house". Can't find it anywhere and since we didn't use it last year we just can't rely on memory to find it. We are slowly taking food out of the freezers and canning or freeze drying etc.

  15. I've been struggling with this. Feeling a lot of anger over the stupidity I see around me. Then I spoke to somebody about it because I knew it was doing me no good. He suggested I follow Jesus' example….NOT only how he behaved with others but how he PREPARED to behave. He thought things through. Even when he cleared the temple, he sat and made a whip and I'm sure he was centering his thoughts the whole time. I've begun doing this and my preps are taking on a clearer purpose WITHOUT the anger over something I can do nothing about

  16. I’ve been working on a cook book for 8 1:2 years that only uses pantry foods. The recipes have all been adjusted from the most popular Pinterest meals. I now have 650 easy to prepare family approved meals!

  17. I live in a hot area and in trying to find a way to cool down works that take NO ELECTRICITY I case grid goes down. Any suggestions?
