Northern Ireland here 1 more night of heavy rain and 50mph winds then weather looks good hoping so
Afternoon Ivan. I only found out my last frost date a few weeks ago. Over on Huw Richards channel, he had a link attached to check out the last frost dates. Mine’s zone 12, the 10th May, but he suggested waiting two weeks after, before planting out. My oldest child’s birthday is 23rd May, so it’s a good easy way to remember 🧠 I can plant the day after her birthday 🥳 It’s crazy though, just 5 miles down the road…my hometown…is a different zone, they can plant earlier 🫠 maybe I should pack up and move back home 🏡😂🤣 Great video once again Ivan 💚🍀
Someone “ sed 4 seasons in 1 day in the U.K. “ I’m not doing anything until the second week of may is usually when the weather seems to settle down
Here on the edge of Cardigan Bay, last frost date is the 19th April, 7 days time. I don't want to risk it yet.
A pair of Great tits have eggs in the top corner of my shed and I think they will struggle to feed them in a few weeks time.
Some really useful advice in this video. Thank you.
Hahaha Temperature Daytime: 9 Celcius. Yay! Real Feel: -5 subarctic freeze to death in freezing rain. Uh, yeah.
Hi Ivan, when you say indoors do you mean in a greenhouse?
I lost my greenhouse last night – It was pinned down onto hard standing with metal pegs – managed to recover a fair bit but still it is disappointing. Anyway watching as much for the subtitles as for the gardening tips – really funny translations of your accent at times. Enjoying your channel – thank you.
Just discovered and enjoying your channel. have a trough and pots to grow veggies in – really interested that you have cabbages growing in pots. Is it too late to start these from seed?
Great advice regarding the strawberry netting, it's a lot cheaper than the netting I used last year and I've just ordered some. You now have a new subscriber!
Wise tips about triggering bolting, Ivan. I've gone to only planting brassicas that I eat the flower stalks from, like rapini, since I know they are probably going to bolt anyway. Our last frost is May 30, though it snows here in June some years.
Really helpful video. Where abouts in the UK are you? you sound local to me (nottm)
I planted some charlotte potatoes last spring (ne uk) and when it was time to harvest I had health issues so they got left all summer in the ridiculous heat and all winter in those freezing conditions. I expected to be emptying bags of mush when I finally got around to it early spring but to my surprise almost all of them were decent sized and I even managed to crop enough for this years seed!
Thanks Ivan, for this great update with all the brilliant information. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thanks Ivan, great update all advice greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
Worse year for growing even in pop-up greenhouse I don't think any of us will achieve anything remotely like last year.
My last frost is the last week of april, i leabe it till the 1st of may just in case. uness its peppers then i wait till it does not drop below 10c at night.
