My garden is trying to take over my homestead here in Central Portugal! It’s been growing all winter, unchecked and the thing has a mind of its own, I tell you! I attempt to tackle a section in this video and I also show you some work I’ve done inside my tiny house shower, walk you through my timber framed tool shed design, and… I have some amazing news, too!
I hope you enjoy this video, please leave a comment if you have any questions, suggestions, or even if you just want to say hi! 🙂
Thanks for watching!

Petrol strimmers are quite heavy. I use an electric cord strimmer which suits me as it’s quite light. If you have a large area – a petrol
strimmer gets quite heavy after a while. I have an 1/4 acre in the Perth Hills of Western Australia which is a mainly native bush block that get full of weeds and needs to be strimmed about once a month in winter and spring.
Congratulations on adopting Mikey. He's such a cutie and seems very loving. ❤
I have oregano growing from seed. I've had no luck with my thyme though. So far my success rate growing from seed here has been very low, maybe 60% overall. My nasturtium are lower, I've lost track of how many seeds I've planted and so far I have 3 that were successful. Marigolds have been 0% so far. No idea what the problem is, but it's certainly frustrating when you plant numerous seeds and only get a few seedlings out of it. 😕
I love watching your dreams come true. You and Mikey have such a calm beautiful place to live. Stay safe and happy and remember this is your dream world always do it your way.
Awe, congrats on adopting Mikey! Also you have made great progress!
Project Portugal's Nick just put out a chainsaw sharpening video!
Kirsty you have made progress on lots jobs, you are one person doing all the work, so praise yourself for doing well.
So glad Mikey is now your cat, he's so happy living with you. ❤
Parabens on the adoption of Mikey🎉🎉🎉
Great news on Mikey. I’ve always thought he’d be yours!
Yay Mikey ❤
I better bring Mikey a welcome to the family toy. I always thought you would keep him. ❤
What a jungle!! Lol All the best on your clean up !! Little by little! Love your calla lilles!❤ Grace Beattie
You're amazing..love watching your videos 💞
We have a Ryobi electric strimmer/brush cutter. It's a corded one so you need to make sure you have long enough extension cords but it seems to work good so far. When dealing with really overgrown weeds we use the blade attachment and once everything is under control the regular strimmer attachment is good for maintenance.
Glad your keeping Mickey he’s lovely. Look forward to your building the garden shed/ tool room and outhouse/ laundry room xxx
Hi Kirsty, I was watching someone else on YouTube make a raised bed garden and he used HDPE double walled plastic pipe which he cut into 16 raised beds 4 loops in hight. It cost him two hundred dollars which might seem a lot but he got 16 raised beds and a few smaller flowers beds from the end . HDPE stands for polly Ethylene pipe high density and it was 48inches wide. I personally thought it was worth a look and you could make it any hight. You and your friend could split the cost and cut the pipe three loops high and get quiet a few beds for cheap. Lol anyway food for though check it out I'm sure you'd find it on YouTube yourself. Happy Easter Kirsty all the best to your mum and Dad. XxK
Kisty I'm talking crap the 20 foot pipe was 2,000 dollars roughly 200 dollars a bed. I just misunderstood the cost. But the garden beds were great. Lol. XxK
Doing a small area at a time is a good idea. I was thinking if you started from your home and worked down you would be able to reap the rewards of your labour every time you looked out from your house.
Beautiful cat!
Another good one! Two things. Can we have an update or just a video of the kitchen window now that it is uncovered? And…. Once the garden is done for the season why don’t you drop a cover crop down there to outcompete the weeds? (And then borrow someone’s goat to mow it for you 😉
Battery trimmer definitely the way to go …
Congrats on Mikey. He had you picked from the start dough.
Plenty babies – harvest. Cheers Kirsty!
Flat… Ish haha good humor
Nice plans. Stone is always beautiful., but so is wood. Marry them. I see much love in your home.
Too true re the cat and how they choose you
Can’t wait to watch your garden transformation! And yayyyy for adding Mikey to your family.
Paving slabs.
I have the einhell 36v one and on 2 4ah lithium battery's it only lasts about a hour. I have multiple battery's though and a 2 battery charger so I can use 2 charge 2 and have 2 spares ready to swap out once the 2nd are dead (the batteries take over 1 hour to recharge so 6 are needed for constant opperation) if net in a rush you could do a hour wait 2-3 hours for recharging then do a bit more. Its all about how you use it.
Wow what a lot of comments ❤
Really glad that Mikey has been allowed to officially adopt you.
Hi, lovely addition to your family. You have achieved a lot. You do need a Strummer, hire one till you decide which one you need. Burn your weeds. The fleece is good to protect plants, you'll get a few fatalities on the way, some is better than none. Your shed is awesome, very practical and lots of uses.
It is warming up, after 4pm is when I do my gardening. Have a good week ahead with your friend, stay safe and sane.😊
Hi kirsty you are doing a great job. You need a few goats or pigs to keep the grass etc in a manageable state. The weather in the uk is damp and grey. waiting for mr blue sky….any ELO fans will know what i mean. Take care kirsty. xx
