In this video you can see spring has arrived on our farm. We’re still taking care of our garden one step at a time. Shredding the big pile of brush and clearing the land piece by piece. The flowers are blooming and the garden is living. We tackled the outer wall with our pressure washer and discuss future garden plans and ideas. Happy Easter! ๐Ÿฃ ๐ŸŒฟ

My name is Debora and I moved to Portugal to start a new life. My sister and I left our life in the city and bought an old abandoned farm in the countryside. We yearned for a more meaningful and simple life surrounded by nature.

Our goal is to be more self-sufficient and go as much off-grid as possible. We’re renovating the cottage & barn, starting a new garden and doing many other projects on our homestead.

Subscribe to follow us on our journey as we make our dream come true! ๐Ÿงก

  1. Truly, love your garden plan! We are doing something similar as well. Good luck with everything.

  2. Good going Ladies ๐Ÿ‘ The power washer worked well. Looking great! We call that an Arum Lily Cape Town South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Blessed Easter to you'll ๐Ÿ’›

  3. Good Job with the wall ! ! Nice plans with your garden too ! Looking forward in seeing the end result.

  4. I am curious to why you vlog in English. It is wonderful for us native English speakers, but a compromise for you?

I like the symmetry of your garden plan, having a hedge of some sort would be cool, but could create the same effect using fruit tree espaliers. I have similar wish to design, with a greenhouse at the centre but may be an issue with shadows. I have used pin interest for inspiration, as I would like to build my greenhouse using recycled architectural salvage.

I am in UK, we have long winter and short summer, so I prefer planting with evergreen rather than herbaceous, but this is for amenity not food production.

  5. Your small chipper will probably be okay for smaller jobs, but this huge cleanup might need something bigger. Are there equipment rental companies in your area where you could rent a larger one for the day for the next big cleanup? It would make as much of a difference as the pressure washer did on the wall cleanup! Also, I love your garden design. Classic lines and lots of room to move around for gardening ease. Happy Easter or whatever you celebrate!

  6. Arum lilies grow well in Portugal and also in Wales where I live, I have lots of them in my garden. They take very little work but like damp soil. The garden design is a parterre and will look beautiful as well as being productive. You may get some ideas from roots and refuge farm which has something similar. Itโ€™s lovely seeing you and your sister work togetherโค๏ธ
