do you grow these plants from seeds or do you by seedlings from a nursery? I can get lemongrass from my local Asian Food store.
Pigeon pea: grows fast, looks nice, has edible "peas" that taste similar to black beans and fixes nitrogen.

We use comfrey Bocking 14 everywhere. We’ve just sown cardoon for use as mulch and we are collecting canna lilies to use as well.
Mostly though we use our own hay as we have more than 20 acres of grass we can cut.
Thanks! I also use my dried fig leaves that fall from the tree in the autumn. They tend to be good mulch. Also the banana tree leaves that die or turn yellow tend to help protect the corm.
I love Mexican Sunflowers (tithonia diversifolia) it's a perennial in the south, Grows about 14 feet tall, and you can chop it several times a year.
After reading that it helps with pest issues, I started using rosemary as part my mulch.
What is the biotanical name for Cardoon plant?
