Gateway to the Arctic is a 6-part video series documenting the 2022 month-long expedition through Canada’s barren lands. The route is designed to explore the iconic landscapes of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut by attempting to travel over 800 km from the tree line of Great Slave Lake north to the Arctic Ocean.
We would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Akaitcho Dene and Inuit peoples whose ancestral lands we traveled through as part of this trip. We recognize that our own understanding and experience is limited, and that Indigenous peoples hold the knowledge and wisdom of their unique relationship with this land.

What an amazing journey. Your positive energy certainly shows through and I love seeing you manage your ups and downs keeping each other motivated. Bravo! 👏
Periglaciation in action – frost heave. Yay, bring it on Noah! ❤
As an Aussie woman living in UK , Im enjoying this series. Having read Farley Mowats books I can relate more to the ' living landscape' in the videos.
As for being wet and cold , Im having 'Nunavut' ! 😄
Oh yeah and my word of the week is 'portage' . You dont mention the return trip but I'm guessing its 3 trips for every 'portage' — there , return and back with the 2nd load ??
PS 'Im intrigued to know a bit more about your camp details. eg do you leave the food scraps and take the rest of the rubbish ?
It was interesting to hear how you managed your wet clothes –in the 'wet barrel'.
How you cope with the flies and freezing wet feet is a master lesson in positive mindset .
Outstanding effort boy’s, some of the wildest country in Canada…. Wow…..
Boy Noah got butter fingers with those squirmy graylings! Beautiful fish and beautiful land. Thank you so much for letting us see it! John and Leslie
That was so cool guys. Thank you!!!
talk about a dream fishing experience. not everyone gets to chuck dry flies in that environment. unreal scenery. i'm on board the whole way.
Thanks again! Great stuff!
Another incredible series guys! Beautiful landscapes.
Looked like you guys were running a garage sale 😂
P(ah)sta or pAsta? In Canada it's pAsta.😊
Nice to see your luck has changed from the previouse Ep. great fishing, good food , awesome team work, I can see this adventure would have been difficult to film especially when you boys were tracking the canoe. Incredible exploration . enjoying the series
At 10:00, shooting rapids…… did I hear banjos! 😎
This is my favourite thing on YouTube right now. Love this content
I have done many as gruelling trips as you guys experienced and have total respect for your accomplishments on this trip. You covered extremely well through photo documentary of the highs and the lows you experienced day to day. Best little series I have watched in a long while! Grand slammed ‘er out of the park boys!
Good video! Good fishing. Did you guys keep any fish for dinner?
Tough few days for you guys. Luckily the weather came through! Amazing fishing. What an amazing trip so far.
Great episode guys! What's the song at 12min?
Nice to see that you are enjoying your trip immensely. The journey is more important than the destination.
First, what a beautiful shot at 36:18. Second thanks for the geology lessons, really appreciated.
Another great episode. What a unique and challenging landscape. What a physical effort, I get tired just watching what you get through.😲
I'm loving this series! You guys are going to places I'll never get to. And most people have never been there either! Awesome. I've watched a couple of your videos now and I'm amazed at your canoeing talents. I've never tracked a canoe. Final questions here, is this Graham's first trip with you guys as it seems he's doing a lot of personal "firsts" on this trip? 2. How much, and how often, do you eat the fish you catch? I know you'd get sick of fish every day, so I'm just curious
oh yeah, and I love the geology lessons as well!
Hello from Dryden, Ontario! I have been enjoying this series, I watch it on my big TV in the living room. I especially love the fishing! You are catching some monsters. Thank you for sharing these videos.
Loving this series guys!! Why aren’t you guys eating those beauty grayling??
Awesome work guys! More beauty fish. Glad to see you're still pushing on.
A bonus "Rocks with Noah" is always welcome. I only wish i could remember the technical names when I'm out on the land to throw off family and friends. Ha
Episode 5 opened with swearing (G.D). I was watching your programs with grandchildren. We find such language inappropriate. I was sorry to delete our subscription to your channel and stop viewing you otherwise great adventure series.
Awesome video like the little geology information. CBC really got to hire you guys.
Love your adventure series. Lessons on geology and history really add to the experience. Thanks
Awesome and beautiful country. Vast and peaceful but not loving them black flies! Great fishing as well.
What’s up with your pronounciation of pasta? PAST-a!?!?!? You’re driving this Italian boy crazy with that! 😂 lol.
Another great episode gents, Lining upriver looks like hard work.
Cheers
Love the content. It seems you guys have way more fun when your not on a tight schedule and have time to fish and have an early camp day
The editing and music accompanied sections on this were epic! Loving this series, really glad I found this channel!
How much does a journey like this cost? Per person?
Great to see Noah reading Barry Lopez at 37:23. Essential Arctic reading imo. Let's hear a shout out to Robert Perkins too.
Epic adventure, thanks for sharing
Oh man, I waited for days for this. Sunday is the night I watch my favourites.
So I’m so happy for you guys that you came to grips with the change of plans. You guys seem so much happier on the trip now. I mean it’s fun for me to be taken along, but for you it’s a trip of a lifetime sort of thing, so I’m so glad for you, and I like your travel companions, but I gotta admit, I kinda miss Dave. 🙂
And Noah, that was some awesome geology today. The way that rock squirted out of the ground was really cool…..though I’m pretty sure I saw you put those rocks in your pack, even though you said there was no flood in them. 😀
So I’m picking up the Goal Zero solar panels next week. That is the 50W you’re using? I think I’ll get the 20W since I only have flashlights, gps batteries etc….to charge. It should be fine, right?
Great Geology lessons ❤️. Your videography/editing/storytelling is top notch, thank you so much for a great film series to watch 👏🏻
Do you fish barbless?
Are your boots waterproof?
Alex and Noah, I was just scammed for a donation from someone claiming to be Noah. I reported them to PayPal.
Thanks for The awesome video upload you guys are doing great🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤😊
amazing fishing boyzzzz
what weight fly rod were you catching the grayling on? 9 foot 5 ?
How does the speed and tracking of the 16 vs 17' Prospecteurs compare? And, do you notice a significant difference (improvement) compared to paddling your Canyon's over long stretches?
Periglaciation!! It’s just fun to say!
