I’ve been cleaning out the kids’ old stuff, and I came across these wonderful books. My kids enjoyed them for so long, and it just seems like such a shame to donate them to Goodwill or something. So I decided to pass them along to our good friend and photographer Matt to take home to his son.

Think about that the next time you’re sorting through your kids’ old stuff, maybe you can pass it along.

  1. Always pass my children's books to my grandchildren or the local shelter. But there are some book I cannot bare to part with.

  2. Yes l understand. But to pass them on to your friend for his son is a lovely thing to do and will make you smile knowing they are still being loved.

  3. I kept all the books of my brother, who is sixteen years my junior, and my children delighted in them. I now have them, and all the other lovely children’s’ books I bought over the years, in my attic, waiting to be used by my future grandchildren. They are too precious not to keep. Luckily I have the storage space to do this.

  4. I didn’t give away any of my kiddo’s books. Their favorites have a place on our bookshelf and are being red to to our grands now when they spend time at our house. We’re blessed to have them close.

  5. Oh I spy a Little Monster book on your pile! My kids loved those…. Me too. It is so hard to let go of those. ❤

  6. I taught 2nd grade for nearly my entire 35 years in the classroom. I have given my own personal kids their childhood books, but I cling to the ones I shared with my school kids. Maybe someday I will part with them, but for now, they will remain on my shelf.

  7. And when he is finished with them, they can be transferred back to you so you can read them to your grandchildren. I have found so much joy in reading the books I once read to my children to my grandchildren.

  8. Box them up to read to your grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are always delighted to have stories read to them that were read to your children.

  9. Yes, it is a bittersweet task, however, passing them along to a good friend, is a lovely gift to their child. Think of the countless hours and stories they will enjoy together.

  10. Take them down the street to the elementary school or reach out to the PTA and ask them to have a used book swap – we did this years ago and everyone loved the book swap.

  11. Yes. There are many things you can give your neighbors. I did that all the time. I was lucky to have a neighbor who had many grandkids. I can’t tell you how much I gave them. They were so excited to see grandma with her stash from my kids. And stuffed toys to my gas station attendant to send to his grandkids. My son won a lot of stuffed toys at arcades. The joy it brings children is something you can’t measure! Thank you😊 Linda for sharing this! ❤️🥰🤗

  12. I have saved every book too! No weddings or grand kiddo’s yet ! But all my tiny visitors love them

  13. Linda I just saw a video posted by Snydey of your tulips and pansies. Absolutely gorgeous as always. The question I have is did you dig up your tulips every year in the fall and plant new or just add to what you already had. Also your pansies did you plant them every spring or did they come back every year. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  14. I believe I have every one of my kids books and wouldn’t part with them for the world. Now I read them to my grandchildren. I always tell them that the books used to be their daddies.

  15. We are going through my daughter's childhood books right now as well, and keeping the extra special ones. Have not decided what to do with the extras just yet.
