In todays episode, it wasn’t the planned video. The original asparagus video became corrupt. However today i show you an update on how to plant asparagus crowns, I created trenches and dug in sharp sand for drainage. I then placed the crowns 12-18 inches apart. I planted 3 rows.1 early asparagus called ‘Gijnlim’. 1 row of Mid asparagus called ‘Pacific Challenger’ and 1 row of late asparagus called ‘Guelph Millennium’. To ensure i have a succession of harvests through the season. The spring bulbs are all starting to bloom now. I created a no-till raised bed next to the polytunnel and planted some geranium intense from @farmergracy8901 . I also put all the 30litre buckets of potatoes outside. Planted some ‘Pink Fir Apples’ Potatoes. Fitted a 1000litre ibc tank to the polytunnel, in preparation for the polytunnel soaker irrigation system. I visited the Grapevine garden plot, to update you of the progress and future jobs need doing. The garlic and strawberries are doing great. The last of the swede was harvested. The onion seedlings are a complete success this year! First time growing from seed to success. The Mini Polytunnel from @polytunnels needs a hoeing and inside there was some oakleaf lettuce and spring cabbage looking perfect. Spring is finally here and sowing and planting is coming a long fast!

  1. Looking great Danny, fingers crossed those onions continue to grow as well as they have been and you'll have a cracking harvest 😊🌱 xx

  2. I was hoping to get more perennial crops on the go with Rhubarb seeds in already but I was hoping to get Sun chokes but they are rather pricey. The garlic is looking mighty fine and those Turnips did well unlike mine that got eaten by pests.
It's nice to have longer evenings to chip away at night.

  3. Loads of spuds there Danny…..and your onions look great! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 What will you grow in your greenhouse this year? Will 🌻

  4. Both plots are looking good! How are the hens?
My potatoes in bags are up a couple of inches. I transplanted cilantro into the surface of the bags after planting the potatoes a few weeks ago, and am enjoying harvesting it. When the high temps arrive soon and the cilantro bolts, the potato leaves will be ready to take over. My onion seedlings in the garden are finally standing up. Was thinking they were going to die on me. Tomato planting this weekend!

  5. Hi Danny,
    Great video thank you.
Could l ask how many pink fir apples did you add to your 30 litre pot please?
Are you putting them outside now or will you be putting them in your poly tunnel?
    Many thanks in advance 🙏🌺

  6. Thought I had all my potatoes bought but alas curiosity as led me to buy some more. Never tried pink fir apple so will give them a go. The forget me nots will look fab in a few weeks time.

  7. I love spuds that are pink and knobbly. I think they have a lovely flavour, almost nutty. I planned three types of spuds but my local outlet only had two and i threw away the packaging before labelling ! They were pink and knobbly though so i’m sure that i will like them. Recovering from a little op and watching all my fave gardeners. Lovely jubbly ! 🌱🌻🌽🥒

  8. Wow you got lots of potatoes 🥔 in 👍, mine are still chitting but it’s pouring so I’ll do in a few days. Can’t believe how fast your fruit bushes are growing. I found my first mares tail 😢😢yesterday. Hope your onions don’t walk off 😂😂 Benny. Happy Easter 🐣 Jackie ❤

  9. Looking great. With all the rain here, I am finally greening up. Starting Sunday temps are great for the cold hardy stuff. Tomorrow I will direct seed a lot of seeds.
