Let’s work in the garden and plant my first container at Hill Cottage. A topiary of course! A pink encore azalea over 4’ tall. Hmmm. Now where will I put them?!

  1. Hi. Here inthe UK all the gardening programmes and experts encourage the use of 'peat free ' compost, even for acid loving plants. Here we are able to buy ericaceous which is peat free. Helping to be eco friendly by saving the peat bogs etc😮

  2. I loved hearing the church bells in the background! I would put them where you can enjoy them the most and most protected from the wind.
What is the zone for encore azaleas? I'll google it!

  3. Happy Birthday Stewart! I hope you have an amazing day! You do such a great job. 🎉🎉

  4. Images are helpful, but measurements from boundary lines w/ a map are more precise (you could use outside boundaries like: house / sidewalk etc. if that would be easier as references.:-)

  5. Howdy from South Texas! Oh, Linda! You had me when you referenced the moors and Wuthering Heights!! I simply love the Bronte sisters! And, what's more, I have named my garden the Jane Eyre Garden because of this simple line: "Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless?" My little garden is poor, obscure, plain and little, but I love it and some day I hope to have a fabulous garden like yours!! I love your channel and your energy! Happy birthday, Stewart!

  6. I would place the azaleas either side of wherever you relocate that wooden bench. Happy birthday to our dear friend, Stewart!

  7. I would love to do this with my pots (mix soils), but it's so vehemently suggested against by all master gardners, that I just can't do it!!! All new soil, every year for me. I can't risk any floundering for me!

  8. Will you be trialing the use of peat free soil at all? Most TV gardeners here in the UK are all pushing to stop the use of peat because of how badly it harms the environment. Would be great to use your platform for this too. Loving watching this garden unfold ❤

  9. 🌳🌳🏵🏵 HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEWART🏵🏵🌳🌳,,WHEREVER You decide to relocate the azaleas, make sure they will be OUT of the Way of all of your other projects…

  10. I'm late to the party, but Happy Belated Birthday Week Stewart! Linda, have you ever seen how they stake trees on Gardeners World? The stake is at an angle (about 45 degrees) a short distance from the trunk in such a way that it props the tree against the wind direction and the stake crosses the trunk a bit lower than you would normally. I have found it very effective. I agree with @marybeth4002 The cement looks just lovely! 😍

  11. Maybe place the azalea topiary’s each side of your back door steps. The front yard is going to be instantly beautiful and you may like something pretty as you go in and out of your back door. Until you get a chance to plant the backyard garden. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

  12. 🤝 🐰 Congratulations and good luck with your promising future. ★☘ Keep doing the best work, may all your wishes come true. Great job, you are amazing, you are unique and you are valuable! I wish you good luck and have my full support.

  13. 🎉 Happy Belated Birthday Stewart! 🎉
I did want to ask what is the tree in the front yard that has purple leaves or flowers?

  14. Happy Birthday, Stewart! ❤😂
I would wait to decide where to put the azaleas until the front starts taking shape. I don’t think it would be the porch though. 😊💖🦋🕊

  15. Could you do a video of how you install the irrigation system. The pros, cons and and how. My husband didn't maintain it and now I don't know how deal with it and the mess of fixing it.
