Layering potatoes in containers maximizes yields by using all the space in the container. The key is to keep them fertilized and water consistently.

Tips for 5 gallon fabric bags?
can you layer like this in ground also? thank you!
I put sweet potato slips in watering buckets last year as an experiment. One to a bucket. They dried out fast because they were in intense sun and the plants didn't get very big. I really doubted it would work but only 1/14 died & 11 did very well.
Another great video. Thanks Gary! I think I'll try potatoes in one or two of my grow bags this year.
Thank you Gary 🥔🥔🥔
This year, I plan to grow mine in containers, whether in buckets, tubs, cardboard boxes, or new grow bags. My potatoes got forked like crazy last year digging for them because the soil still had too much clay, even after amending it.
I have large containers, but I saw a few videos where this was done in cardboard boxes. They placed the boxes open ended, all flaps tucked inside, over a layer of leaves, straw, or dirt. The boxes were filled with about 6" soil, potatoes placed, a little more soil, then a heavy layer of mulch (leaves, straw). One farmer showed the progression and care, early pick, and regular pick. The harvest was amazing!
Another guy put chicken wire around his boxes for support and on the bottom to prevent moles, then weed cloth around so he could reuse them. I think weed cloth between the box and chicken wire would be better as the box deteriorates, the cloth contains the soil and that is supported by the wire. Anyway, there are so many alternatives with a little creativity for folks who can't afford new bags.
Yay exactly what im planting in about an hour lol
Oh my gosh I forgot I could do this, thanks for the reminder. I have way too many seed potatoes and probably not enough containers for all of them with my normal planting but doubling them up makes it doable!
Another excellent video with tips. I will definitely do this, this week with my grow bags. Thanks Gary. 👏
It's a great pleasure to watch this video. Especially since I bought 20 buckets for potatoes. I can't wait to plant them.
Love THIS😊
I would like to order the fertilizer and I went to the site
I am fairly new to vegetable gardening …last year was my first time ..
Do you dilute this … like the fish fertilizer I was using last year 🤔
Thank you for this…I have grow bags that I put spinach in last year 🥬🥕🥔
Love this idea! Thanks Gary
Do you still add the organic granular if you are using pre-fertilized potting mix like Miracle-Gro?
Perfect timing! Planting potatoes this afternoon. Will definitely try this. Thanks
Stupid question, but does the product made with fish draw cats? I don't want cats using my potatoes for a litter box. Thank you
Thank you thank you for the reminder video, Gary! It’s perfect!
So timely – thank you! I went just a "wee" bit overboard on seed potatoes this year. 😁 This will help solve the problem-not-a-problem.
