You should get a little heating pad, JUST for the germination period. Got em on Amazon but I'd bet you can get one easily enough in the UK. Soon as I win the lottery I'll donate one for you 🙂 I have a small one for years now and I just use it mostly for my chilli plants and to germinate others. The others leave the pad as soon as germinated.
Thanks for the video Ivan
🌈💚🍀
Iv not done any bell peppers yet but i think i will later when i get back from pub i mean town 🙂
Thank you Ivan for the pepper demonstration.
May I ask without criticism, regarding saving, and sowing shop brought peppers.
How do you know if there are Heirloom or F1 peppers ?
F1 will not come true, as there are so many more F1 seeds now compared to the past.
Have a blessed weekend Ivan, and happy growing.
Thanks Ivan
i have only ever grown toms peppers and this year chilli and blueberry, all from seed with great seedlings so far..
I did all my bell peppers from seeds that had saved last year and they were absolutely fantastic. Hope yours turn out
I just throw my seeds in a pot someplace and the next year wonder why there are volunteers coming up where I planted something totally different. I love volunteers and if they taste good and grow in our heat, then I feel like a winner. I have so many seeds I have saved that I could never use them all. Good luck with those peppers. If they don't grow this year, they might come up next year,
Great video Ivan I see a lot of pepper seeds are going f1, Not sure if correct but someone told me you can't keep f1 seeds but not sure if this is correct just a friend of mine said so.
Just a quick heads up. I have found a method for getting plants to get a little more light in the house all I’ve done is put a little bit of tinfoil on a peace of cardboard and then prop it up on the side of the seed tray and let them grow so they get more sunlight…. I’ve had some success with this method so far it just seems to work better
Ivan, add a piece of paper towel to the jar of seeds to absorb any moisture left then change or remove to avoid mold.
I hope you don't mind my suggestion. I do that when I dry bay leaves from my bay tree or any herb.
Your Peppers might not be F1 Ivan so nothing to worry about Pal.
👍👍
Thanks Ivan, that's a great idea and it'll be great to see how they get on as it's a really good money saver. Take care and all the best. Stevie
I did some of my peppers with this method all germinated have done them this way for 7 years 😊
Thnx. Just planted 8 seeds in 4 cells and covered them with klingfilm. I don't have a heat mat, but I put them on the warmest place I could figure out: in the living room on top of a high cupboard, 2 feet below the ceiling. I'll give it 3 weeks
Living in Midlands with no greenhouse. Growing bell peppers outside is a challenge. Started mine off indoors a lot earlier this year. Small green buds already appearing on 1 plant (got 3). They were purchased seeds (Sweet California) but I'll be harvesting seeds this year.
I'd be happy with another record-breaking hot summer this year.
Also, thanks for all the vids.
