Just save your egg shells and crush them up. Spread the shells around your plants. It provides ingredients your plants need, it cuts the belly of any snail or slug and it’s biodegradable and all natural.
I save mine in an empty plastic milk container. If the shells fill the container, I use an wine bottle bottom to crush them up in order to fit more.
Egg shells are perfect for protecting your plants from the creepy crawlers.
Love this…was using Sevin. What about flea beetles. What to use to fight them? Central Florida 9b. Rainy season/daily rainfall will be coming soon. Thank you in advance.
Great tips! Havagudun Gary
If you have planters or containers which are smooth, solid, and not fabric, you can use coarse sandpaper tape as slug tape. I have 4 large planters with 4" slug tape on the bottom of each planter. They won't cross it.
Diamotaceous Earth helps as well.
Thanks
Thanks Gary! Great video! I was doing this last night in my garden!
do you have a recommendation for spending that treatment in zone 4;a certain temperature??
Can you use it right in the vegetable garden, is it safe?
Hi gary when you get a chance please make a video about tomatillos thanks.
are they avaliable in the uk, gary
Is this SAFE?
What do you do for deer?
Nice video thanks – how do you get rid of the grass and weeds that come up in the veg patch?
I took your advice about the slugs. My other major problem is squirrels. They take bites out of my vegetables. Dig up my flowers even in containers. What do you suggest?
I will have to get that bug geta. I find tent poles or even super cheap tents, pet / child tunnels with poles, thrifting and I use the poles with netting, garden cloth and shade cloth to make inexpensive low tunnels. I never thought about dish racks. Clever.
Merc those slugs, nigga, bow, biff, pow, gang gang!
Are those pellets safe for birds and any other wildlife that eats slugs and snails???
I transplanted 10 romaine lettuce plants to my garden 10 days ago. Now 3 plants have wilted and died and seem broken at the base of the plants. Roots look OK. I have no idea what happened. I took my compost I'd been working on over the past year and spread it into a row in my garden and planted in that. We had a VERY wet winter here in Georgia 7B. Weather is mild now, but has been very windy some days. Supposed to be about 80 a couple of days this week. Transplanted some cabbage at the same time. Growth is extremely slow.
Always enjoy your videos, Gary. Keep them coming.
Dish racks look more like old refrigerator/freezer baskets……which i have collected many for this use too.
Might be counter productive for planting but wouldn't attracting birds to the garden take care of snails and slugs. Don't have any but have an abundance of birds
Thanks used baits can see difference. Will keep it up.
Gary, do you ever put straight leaves in your raised beds or in the garden soil?
I like the dish rack idea but not a fan of the slug bait – I prefer toads to control slugs. Eating a bait-killed slug can't be good for toads.
