Best Hardware Shops in Japan – Mini-series – Joyful Honda Pro Shop

In this mini-series, we visit hardware shops all over Japan. In this video, we visit Joyful Honda Pro Shop, a unique shop marketing directly to the professional tradesperson. There are only 3 Joyful Honda Pro Shops in Japan and they are all in Chiba Prefecture. The JH Pro Shop is full of professional level tools for carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and the everyday handy-person. You will find a variety of electric and battery powered tools, hand tools, work clothes, tool boxes, and other heavy equipment. This shop is a must see if you want to see a lot of high-quality Made in Japan tools that may be hard to find in other hardware stores.

Joyful Honda is headquartered in Ibaraki Prefecture, just north of Tokyo. The company was incorporated in December 1975 as a business offering a home center, garden center, pet center, and an arts & crafts center. JH offers a large selection of professional and DIY tools and equipment. Not only does it offer tools and equipment, but it also offers everyday household items such as cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, outdoor equipment, food and drinks, etc. It is truly a one stop shop for everything you need. There are 15 enormous home centers spanning, 6 prefectures.

We found that the Joyful Honda Pro Shop contains more power tools than the typical Joyful Honda Home Centers. If you are interested in finding a specific power tool then visiting a Joyful Honda Pro Shop is highly recommended. If they don’t have a tool they do have a wall of product catalogs from top tool manufacturers in Japan from Makita and Hitachi to Olfa and Shinwa. If they don’t have an item, simply ask and they can order it for you. We also found that the pricing at the Joyful Honda Pro Shops are pretty reasonable and very consistent unlike Amazon.

    I have the same zetsaw in South Africa the issue I have is I bought a fine blade but don't want to constantly change blades but they don't sell just the handle in SA, love the saw though

    Shopping around like you do is necessary at times

    If you haven’t already, doing a video on flea markets/garage sales for old quality tools would be interesting
