I am doing something very simpler for my brassica, works so well. I love the blue tubing! I will be using that for all my brassicas as the bird will eat everything if not, I tend to use BT to ward off the cabbage white. but the birds are just difficult.
Hi
Hi Emma. What are the crushed shells you are using and where did you get them?
Well done lovely your channel is great I love watching your channel u made me start to grow vegetables so thanks xxx ps do you have a p.o box so people can send you stuff
Congratulations Emmaxx
You always inspire me Emma
Thank you Emma x
Hi Emma loved the video & congratulations 👏 👏👏👏👏 on you tube lv Irene 😘 xx
Good one. A bit of common salt, in the broken shells, really stops slugs etc. Bits of bread, attract birds who will then eat slugs/snails too. But, keep going. Well done so far. 👍
You got there with the hoops in the end. I make my hoops 10 foot long as thats the same width of the scaffold nets i use. A cane along the top will help to stabilise them. For some simple clamps to fix the net to the hoops using the offcuts of pipe, you can look at my video of me building mine.
Did you get the heavy hail on Friday Emma? We got it up here in NW London & my broad beans look a bit battered & bruised & are now full of holes but they were perfect in the morning. So it might have been that that caused damage to your broadies 🤷🏻♀️
Hi that's great was always wondering where the blue pipe comes from I'm off to b&q lol well done with your channel xxxx
Fantastic 🎉
We use blue pipe too 😂 we bought a roll of netting online, I had seen someone using scaffolding net – it works brilliantly and was £21 for 50 metres long x 2 metres wide👌🏻 at the end of last years growing season we dried it on the washing line, rolled it up and stored it for this year. We have to cover everything as we have a lot of birds in our garden. Loving your channel Emma 😊
Hi Emma
I use the blue pipe and scaffold netting over it 😊
Way to go girl on the U Tube award. Love watching you and your life.
Hi Emma I did the exact same thing last year, got the ultra-fine netting, it did keep the butterflies out BUT it trapped the white fly in which in many ways made things worse. So just be aware this might happen to you too. Hopefully not. Its all a learning curve ! This year I am going back to normal netting which will let the predators for the whitefly in, and I am going to use that stuff Charles Dowding uses that he sprays on his brassicas that kill the caterpillars…good luck !
OMG Emma’s got the saw out again.
Anxiety overload.
I got the pipe clips to go with the pipe and drilled the clips to the bed. I borrowed a pipe cutter from someone they are brilliant.
When using a saw use the end near the handle using short strokes when cuttingvyou will have more control over your saw also lay your piece of pipe on your bed for support when cutting…hope this helps your doing a great job
Well done you on your YouTube award xxx
I love it how happy you get when something goes right, you underestimate yourself Mrs and you really shouldn't. Thank you for being there for me to watch when I'm up every night with arthritis pain ❤
Thanks Emma I too always wondered what the blue pipe was and couldn't Google it as did know what it was to search.
I plant extra cabbages amongst my flower bed to give back and encourage butterflies into my garden
An idea with the plastic you find . Maybe previous plot owners have used plastic bags or sheet as a weed barrier and over the years it sadly broken down and that's what your finding
Amazing amazing 😊😂❤
👌✨
Thanks for a fabulous vlog and you're inspiration, I'm of to screwfix for some water piping now,but I'm going to use scaffolding netting as a cover cos I cant afford the eco friendly netting, but I'm gonna save up my pennies for some soon xx happy planting have a fabulous week ,blessingZ and positive plant energies
