Hi Laura love how your veggies n flowers are looking its awesome thanks so much for sharing with us
If I wasn’t using soil blocks I would use the plug trays and place one seed in a cell. Plug trays eliminate the thinning step and the up-potting is easier. 🌺
I don't know what I was thinking when I planted my Lobelia! I must have put in 85 seeds in each tiny cell!
Hi Laura, I have a question. When you have seedlings that have stretched and you rebury them do you rebury them up to their first pair of 'true leaves' or up to their 'seed' leaves? Thanks!
YEP, I'm that person that has a hard time cutting back seedlings! I will spend hours separating and think to myself ,,why?
Just WHY!😂
Parts of this was painful to watch. Nothing good happens when there are snippers involved. Lol….Meanwhile, my seedlings continue to struggle. One last ditch effort is to move them outside in their soda containers. Hilarious!!!!
Lettuce “seedlings” 😂😂😂 girl those are ready for the dinner plate😂😂😂
As I’m new to gardening I have been wondering is there a reason to start seedlings and not just plant the seed directly in the ground? I live in Coastal SC so the weather is warm. Thanks for any advice
I learn so much from your videos. thank you
I’m so excited to see what this year looks like with all this rain we’ve been having! Your plants are probably loving it.
Does someone know what happened to my ranunculus? They looked great with large green leaves for days but now the stems are falling of… ;(
I also thank you for explaining your process and updates on seedlings. I’m also a first time flower gardener from seed. 🌱🌱
I love seeing your seed setup and how you thin seeds. Question though, do you still use the seed starting trays with the water wicking mat from gardener’s supply? Thanks!
For some variety, please share information on Mason Bees and how valuable (and easy) they would be in your new orchard.
😢😢😢
Random..but I would love to see Laura with her hair in a bun or pony tail! 😂♥️
I need to deal with my leggy tomato seedlings.
I know that you use half strength fertilizer on Seedlings with first true leaves. But how do you water them? Do you water from overhead or do you bottom water and if bottom water inbtrays with no drainage, how much do you typically put in or what is your routine? I know this is a super long question but I want to try to be more successful. ❤
Thanks so much for showing us what can be done for leggy seedlings! I appreciate that info.
Will you please tell me the name of the yellow seed trays and where to find them? I know that they were introduced in a n earlier video but I don't remember which one. Thank you!!
Thank you Laura, this was super helpful! I have so many trays exploding and needing to be thinned repotted. <3
Oscillating fans: not a fan over the years. Another one bit the dust this year. It was starting, but humming. I took it all apart cleaned and oiled. Worked great, then it made a loud screech and I threw it out. Others tend to flop forward and I would never leave them run if I wasn’t home as I don’t trust them.
I never start hollyhocks indoors. They grow so easily outside and they won’t bloom until next year anyways. What I need is a larger greenhouse, but I’m too frugal to heat one so I will work with my small lean to.
What I shouldn’t have done was use an opened bag of soil without sterilizing it—whole host of problems there.😊
Is BioTone Starter fertilizer too harsh to mix into soil when transferring the smaller plants to the 4 inch pots?
Thank you thank you! Going to thin and take after the leggy guys now. You are so helpful to all of us and perfect timing Laura!
Why don’t you do a video on how to build those greenhouse tables. Thanks
There is no one I watch that has your perfect recipe for learning videos. There's a saying – I don't know to whom it gets attributed – "Tell them what you're going to tell them, then tell them, then tell them what you told them." This is what you do – Tell us what you're going to do, do it, then show us what you did. I just think you have it down beautifully! Thank you.
Good morning Laura,
I would like to thank you for all the wonderful videos you make that are filled with so much knowledge and bliss. I want you to know that watching your videos first thing in the morning before starting my day it's a routine of mine. 😇
At this current time I live in a condo with a pretty nice size balcony. Where I have a good amount of plants that I have in pots. However it's never enough when it comes to having plants for me.😊 I can't wait to have a house so that I can have a beautiful garden or should I say gardens. 😁 As well as having a greenhouse so that I can do all of my gardening work that I would very much enjoy and love doing. It's something that I've always loved since I can remember. But I want to let you know that you are an inspiration to so many people, and at this time even though I don't have my house and gardens as well as a greenhouse. I very much enjoy following/ watching your videos on YouTube and learning new things about plants and techniques . I also enjoy watching the videos of your Mom, sister and you going shopping at the antique shops and having fun. You ladies really know how to have fun. Let's just say we have a lot in common. There was one time that I jokingly told my husband that you're my sista from another mista. Lol…😊😇 I at least want to say that you are my sister through our Lord and you truly are a blessing. So may the Lord bless you always with great health, good fortune and an abundance of happiness to you and all of your family. 🥰😇
P.S.
My husband and I have been talking a lot in planning to take a road trip to Oregon in late Spring early summer to see all of the wonderful beauty that is Oregon. It was supposed to happen last year and we never got the chance to make it happen. We would also very much love to go to Andrew's Seed CO ane meet you in person if possible. I unfortunately missed my opportunity to have the meet and greet with you when you came to the Seattle Convention Center this year. 😔 I truly hope I get the chance to meet you when we go to Oregon and visit your parents garden shop as I mentioned before. It would be such a wonderful pleasure and honor to meet you. 🤗😇
Wishing you and your family a beautiful and blessed day! 😇🌞
Respectfully,
Sandy Colón-Pierce
Thank you. My daughter introduced me to you site. Then she interrupts me with all the new ideas she finds. I really like the repurposing of old silver ware with sayings and other labels. Too much fun. Learning more each time I listen to you.🎉
👍
Went starting flower from seed do they need grow light are Heat mat
Yes Miss Little Green 👍Thumb..Well this One is yellow 👍 💚💚💚 Thumb 🤣 😂 Love it ..All Beautiful ❤
Hi Laura. Have you tried to grow Luffa? I am trying that this year and am having trouble finding consistent information on the subject.
Could ypu please also talk about greenhouses – types and the better options.
Thank you Laura & Aaron for sharing your day to day struggles and triumphs with us. I enjoy each and every video. I live in Eastern Washington and share your zone and climate. I have areas in my garden that are on the west side of our home that get morning shade and HOT afternoon sun. What can you recommend for those areas?
Just out of curiosity how do you decide which seeds go in the studio and which ones stay in the greenhouse. I’m sure you’ve probably said before but I missed it. Thanks❤
Hugs from N.C..❤️
I have an outdoor flower box! I planted many seeds and have a few sprouts but one flowering plant has gotten huge in there! Slight issue!
Very wet here in California also!
I am at the stage with my tomato plants that I need to repot them. I planted them from seed a few weeks ago.
I am growing mainly tall flowers in my flower box. I do have five sweet apple trees started I only need one.
My question is is it necessary to transplant all seedlings into regular potting soil ? Im running out of space and wasn’t sure if it’s ok to leave some in there seed starting cell packs ?
You mentioned fertilizing at full strength once a week when the seedlings are more robust and have a second set of true leaves. Is this how you fertilize the full-grown plants, too— once a week at full strength? Thanks so much for all the helpful info! I started geraniums from seed after watching you start yours and am enjoying the journey!
Some very helpful tips. Thank you.
Wow! Your greenhouse is looking so amazing! All those gorgeous plants. I have to admit I’m a little jealous of all those geraniums. I will have to put it on next years list.
I finally started my own in ground garden! You inspire me to follow my passion, so thank you! I think I may have killed my lemon coral sedum tho. I watered everything in and then its been raining. It's now a pale green instead of the vibrant chartreuse green it was just two days ago. Do you think it will bounce back? Southeast Texas springs can be very rainy. Can anyone help?
Thank you so much for your videos! I had a misfortune, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I also created a channel and am trying to move in that direction, but so far not very successful((jd
?? Can you please speak to how long you leave the seedlings, after germination, on the wicking water systems? Is it ok to leave them on it until you pot them up or should you transfer them to a large black tray and bottom water?
I am wondering where you got your seedling tongs I would really like a set
Very informative video. You do such a great job with these. Thanh you
