Excellent presentation!
English is my second language and I was pleasantly surprised to understand everything in detail. No where else I could find such a thorough explanation about all parts of the plant, the pollination and tips about healthy growth and rich harvest.
Thank you so much!!
👍
My Cumber plants are growing beautifully but I have yet to have any flowers bloom on them?? What could be the cause of that and love the video thank you so much for your information.
can you also be the pollinator with a little brush? like rub the brush in the male and then onto the female flower?
This summer a deer came by and ate the top of the main leader on my cucumbers. I thought we were done, but the cukes rebounded with side runners and fruit for a daily harvest. Is lopping off the top of the main leader a strategy to encourage more growth?
After more than 40 years of growing my own vegetables I am still looking for tips to improve my gardening I love this video. You explain every detail very clearly and wisely. One thing that I plan to do next year is to include some flowers in my veggie garden to attract more pollinators to my cucumber plants. This year was the first time that I did staggered planting of my indeterminate English cucumbers. 3 weeks after planting my first set of seedlings that I raised indoors, I put more seeds in between the already growing vines on each side of my arched trellis. After watching your video I realized that I should have planted the seedlings on just one side of the trellis and later planted the seeds directly in the ground on the other side of the arched trellis. Regardless of my mistake, I am enjoying a second harvest. I am doing the same staggering with my pole green beans.
I have one cucumber that is 7” long and the ones above it are not progressing. Should I pick the big one? The flower at the end of the cucumber is still yellow and soft
I want to echo others' comments that this was the most thoroughly explained video on the growing habit of cucumbers. I knew there were two basic types of cucumbers, but I never understood what the difference between a slicing and a pickling cucumber was. Equipped with the information you have given me I'll have more success in the garden.
The best video on cucumbers ive seen, thank you!
can you root the suckers to make new plants like tomato can be rooted?

Cukes
Thank you for the video, I am dying to plant cucumbers amongst other vegg8es, but find obtaining the seeds very difficult to obtain, I am in the philippines and where we stay they dont have the nurseries that sell the seeds,
This is really the best video I have ever watched, very detailed and logic explaining monologue along with the video.
Hi Scott ! When I bought my first pack of DT Brown cucumber seeds in local store, DT Brown told me all cucumber plants are vine ones. Is that all right ?
Wow! My new favorite video on cucumbers
Thanks for video and very helpful tips. Loved your presentation
Always find your videos well explained and informative. Not only good advice , but , WHY it's good advice. How it works. Good stuff. Many many thanks
Just found your channel. Thank you for you're awesome advice. Could you possibly do a video on squash bugs? We tend to have so many that no matter how much I catch them they still run rampant
Apparently you've never heard of parthenocarpic cucumber varieties. None of us should claim to have expert advice.
Third time’s the charm!
This has been the best video on growing cucumbers I have seen. Thank you!
this felt like a good lecture
Every week I have to find out my baby cucumber plants eaten by snails. How to save them?
Gardner Scott, I love your videos man! You are just so easy to listen to and you explain it all where it is so easy to understand. Thank you friend! 🙃
Last year was my first time growing vegetables, pickling cucumbers were my most successful one and they gave me the taste of freshness that I have never experienced before.
I will use your wonderful tips this year to have better and more harvest. Thank you!
Thank you Scott for the informative video, so very helpful!
very good video, nicely explained and educational. what is the fastest growing cucumber sort???
Very informative review on the cucumber! I learned something new. Thank you! I wish vining varieties would make a note on thier packs a little better. It is kind of confusing. I've always considered building a towering style bed just for cucumbers to rain down. But never came up with a solid plan. But with today's technology of auto timers and auto waterers well, I might have to reconsider that this year. It would save me half a day working on cucumbers.
Wonderful session and grateful for you sharing all this knowledge. Have a wonderful garden this year!
Gardener Scott, unlike tomato seed packages, cucumber seed packages do not specify whether the cucumber variety is a bush or a vine. How does one determine this fact?
… apparently cucumber leaves are edible ! …
How interesting. Thank you sir
She just took all the Ca with tuna treat and she does not cry now.
Still only one kitten.
nice
nice
Cucs?
Tip, if you dont get alot of bees, try using a blusher brush, first on the male then on the female.
Have you ever heard of the beit alpha cuc? It supposed to have all female blooms that way you get more cucs. But you can't have any different kind of cucumber plant near to cross-pollinate or it doesn't work.
Your videos are amazing. So educational. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
Thank you.
Best explanation i found! Thank you!
In Ohio , Whave more insects that distory cucumbers vines than your mountains has .
I don't poison insects or will sprinkle my food with poison .I'm going to spread my cucumbers 4 plus ft apart at the ground.
Testing only 3.5 ft. Did produce longer last year and believe it's a step but plan to space 4.5 ft.as some advice.
Great video. What are the plastic loops called that you use to train the vines? We are planning to grow cucumbers in a 4x8ft raised bed for the first time this year. We plan to grow vertical and this video will help a lot!
What fertilizer mix do I get for them ???
What’s best for the whole garden ???
0-10-4 ???
Need the numbers
Thank You 😊
Thank you Scott. You are a blessing. My issue with Cucumbers are the same issue I have with squash and watermelon. Those brown bugs! And neem oil and soap have no affect on them. 😩
Thanks so much! I have an unheated hoophouse this year, and I'm going to start an early planting of armenians and persians in 10gal growbags with a net trellis, then have 2 more successions outdoors. I will certainly be pinching suckers!
lol i think cucumber is one of the plants that gives so much, we pickle a ton for the winter. i love sweet pickles.
Excellent information video, thanks Scott
