    I have a small nursery bed outside that I use for odds and ends, including some maple seedlings . I would like to try grafting ; I'm in zone 6b , so we are just warming up here in early spring. No new growth yet on the seedlings/ young maples. Could I graft a new variety onto the rootstock of an inground seedling ? Should I wait until new growth starts to appear ?

    if its from seeds, how do you choose the seeds.
    or can we take soft/hard woodcuttings for rootstock?
