  1. Welcome to the life of a Melbournian trying to grow in our crappy weather …. you should talk to Gary to order seeds online from Melbourne that are cold hardy so you start planting them prior to your autumn/winter and have two seasons worth of tomatoes. I would be happy to mail you cold hardy seeds … the Seed Collection have good seeds as does Diggers if you want to look at their range

  2. Robbie you do have a mess and have lost a lot. It's sad to see so many dead plants. You do have unusually cold weather for southern California. I'm so glad that your Tree Collards are doing well. They can take the cold – but not the wind. I sure would like to grow them (maybe 2 small collard plants might grow for me if they get a lot of special care). Just do what you can. You are still teaching us a lot — even when the garden dies back. We are under a good foot of snow in northern Wisconsin. This weather is very cold here. We are happy to reach the 40's on some days. I can't even plant at all. I have to think about some sort of tunnel or enclosure for growing in this kind of cold. I still appreciate your "attempts" to grow edible plants. Setbacks are part of gardening.

  3. 3” of rain last night in Mission Viejo, CA. Ground is so soggy! 99 cent Store bag of peas that I planted in December are so happy!

  4. Great video as always 😊 That was a nice tour. Kitty is so cute 😍🥰 Looking forward to seeing your next update 😊 Have a great day and happy gardening 🌿🌱😊🤗

  5. I have left a few broccoli to go to seed. The bees love the flowers. That purple crossed plant is beautiful.

  6. Robbie, I am so glad you mentioned your strawberry tower because I went to Dollar Tree today and bought me some of those planters! Please share with us how you plan on improving your strawberries that are growing in it. Thank you for the garden tour!

  7. We have about a foot of snow here in central NY. I'm looking forward to playing in the dirt, if warm weather ever gets here lol. I cant find those tower pots at Dollar and a Quarter Tree😫

  8. Howdy Robbie! Miss Kitty sure enjoyed her broccoli. It was so good she had to do a happy dance.😀
Robbie, you will have lots of beautiful, big loaded tomato plants in no time!🍅
Chamomile loves the 40 temps. In Central Texas the plants start to grow from sown seed when it's cool and grows through the wintertime. Even when it's freezing the plant looks good. When spring hits, it's ready to bloom like crazy.😀
It's always a sweet time with ya when you give a garden tour. Thanks for all the knowledge drops.😃💕

  9. Robbie , show us how you harvest the turmeric and how you prep the pots for planting . Also show us how to plant the ginger and turmeric rhizomes . You inspires me daily .
We now have 4 resident hummingbirds and I am making a hummingbird heaven garden . I just bought a bunch of plants that hummingbirds loves . Hopefully some migrating hummingbirds will stay . Wish me luck . 🍀😊🙏

  10. I'm just "chomping at the bit" with our crazy weather. Thankfully there's a bit of protection in my front porch area where I'd place clearance plants and tomato plants from 99, and they've actually been doing quite well. So I'll see what happens in the next few days!

  11. Well, welcome to Michigan spring weather, Robbie. So sorry you didn't head my warning to cover your plants with tarp or clear plastic. I have even covered mine with black plastic garbage bags when the weather at night will be below 60°. Granted, you have a zillion plants but some could have been saved. If you have any of the tote lids left you can even use those to cover at night.

  12. Robbie @ Gary, I'm so sorry for your loss of your food, But you all will have great making for new soil. Perhaps you 'll decide to change some of your old Idea's @ replace them with your new thoughts. change can be wonderful. You Gary are a ways making changes to your garden, all for the better I might addd . Robbie, you will lots of debree to compost with. Um looking forward to seeing all your changes. God Bless you both. just six more days until the first day of Spring. Yeah. Take care ,Wanda In Ok.

  13. It would be our pleasure to collaborate with you on our smart bird feeder. I would appreciate it if you could send me your email address so that I can contact you. I really like the videos on your channel. Thanks!

  14. This is starting out to be a very interesting year for gardening. It got above 40 degrees yesterday, so I went out to see if anything was still alive. The soil in my totes was still frozen solid! My irrigation tubbing is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I was hoping I could start setting things up. Guess I'll have to wait and hope the weather will cooperate. Monday is officially the first day of Spring, but don't think Mother Nature is looking at our calendars. I am so jealous of your Rosemary!!! It's beyond beautiful, especially with all of those flowers. Unfortunately, it's an annual here because of our climate.

  15. Robbie, you have so much containers, hard job! But I noticed that you have more land around. Why you don't want use this land for gardening? why you choose to grow only in container? Is it better or convenient? Thanks!

  16. You are by far the most free-spirited gardener, unconventional and unafraid!!! You and your garden are a delight to explore. NO ONE can say they can't grow something, or boo-hoo that they don't have money for fresh food or something to eat. Everybody can supplement their diet like this. And thanks to your buddy/husband behind the scenes ! I'm finally getting my garden to come together after about 3 years of trying. It's on the spot where we had calves and had a deep layer of manure. It needed scooped off, leveled, etc and then I layered bunches of woodchips over the manure that was left because you still couldn't walk on it very well. I'm 69 and building my cattle panel greenhouse, too! You are my inspiration and hero…..lol . Blessings to you both and doggie!

  17. CA has been blessed with an amazing amount of water. It's a pain right now, but I hope it moves the state out of the drought conditions it's been facing. Blessings

  18. It's been cold and rainy here in Virginia, too…supposed to drop down into the 20's at night and rain and snow in the forecast. So I totally sympathize with you and your loss of your plants. But you still have some gorgeous lettuce and tree collard! I've been hunting for tree collard plants since I first saw them on your videos and I can't find them. I tried Etsy and Ebay but they sell out before I can order them. Hugs and kisses for precious Kitty!!!!

  19. I’m in Riverside and we have more rain coming next week. I’m growing all my seeds and plants indoors right now

  20. Tottenham Ontario Canada, lots of snow but warm days here and there. Well not really warm, I mean a little above freezing. Looks like you have a clear way to restarting fresh with all that water damage. You have such a positive attitude towards gardening set backs… They're opportunities for change right? I love my kale plants because they come back after winter and from a distance look like palm trees… Reminds me of our holidays. So good to know the extras can become fertilizer. Your place will look back to normal in no time. Happy gardening.
