Thanks Robbie, some really good ideas. Love the look of the shiny beads in the pots. They're washable too, which is nice. I miss my chocolate mint for my coffee. My chickens discovered it last fall and worked it over pretty well, it didn't survive. This year I'll keep cuttings in the house to replace it just in case. I'm using your irrigation tubing and tomato stake solution in my big pots to protect chicken vulnerable plants. I'm making yarn cages to discourage my sweet ladies from flying up and into my pots. Stay dry!
I live upstate NY. I would love to be able to get a head start. I don't have a window to put seedlings in. But I do have a small green house. Maybe beads will hope. I sure don't have a green thumb😢
I’ve never heard it pronounced that way “mahdi graw beads” lol interesting
You always have the best ideas😊😊😊
Another good idea. 😊 I am getting excited about spring real soon. By the way, everything went better than expected with the procedure. So, I will be able to get started in a few weeks. Have a wonderful week/weekend.
Pool noodles. You can cut it to fit.
It's raining here too. I never would have thought of using beads like that. I do have prisms hanging on the end of my porch that gets a lot of sunshine and as the sun hits them, I have lights hitting the ceiling and floor of my porch and when there is a breeze, the lights dance around and they are so pretty. In your last video, you mentioned doing something different with your strawberry tower and the strawberries. I would love for you to share it with us when you do. I bought some of the stackable planters at Dollar Tree the other day and I am hoping for helpful tips on how to plant strawberries in them. Thank you 😊
Tomatoes and peppers on windows
I have lots of these kind of beads. What a great idea. Where do you get your mint plants? do you start them from seeds or plants/Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant
I use color pea gravel in my pots but I like the idea of the beads. That is really pretty. I will do that when I get some beads and make a video of it. Thanks for sharing and have a great day and happy gardening 🌿🌱😊🤗
Tin foil & beads!!!! Brilliant! Thanks so much! :o)
Thank you Robbie for these great ideas 🥰
I have peppermint & chocolate mint growing outside 🥰
You have a smile in your voice!!! Thank you!
Neat! Thanks Robbie!🙂👍
That's a great idea! We have some VERY cold weather coming for the weekend also here in WV. I saw my mint starting to come up, I may run out in the morning if its not pouring the rain or snow and put some in a pot in my windowsill! Have a great evening!
The beads look cute! I have tons of beads since we have a Mardi Gras here in Galveston, and I used to decorate my Christmas tree with them but now I dont put up a tree I havent done anything with my beads. I never thought about using them in the garden! I managed to grab some fresh herbs from the grocery store and stick them in some pots behind the chicken coop over winter and they have really done well. Now I have several pots of thyme, oregano and mint. Trimmed my cherry tomato right before it got cold, now those are ready to be transplanted into the ground theyre over 2ft tall and blooming. Thanks for the great tips Robbie and Gary keep em coming! I want to see that trough set up and growing!
Thanks for suggesting using seasoning jars. Definitely going to start saving mine!
where do you get the ideas
Wow, I have NEVER heard of or considered using beads for reflection! How cool! I will try that if I pick some up somewhere for cheap. Currently, I have mint and some small flower seedlings on a couple windowsills and I have a grow light for days like today that are rainy. I live in WI so I'm used to trying out wintering different plants indoors and seeing how it turns out lol. Mint is doing okay.. mostly feeder roots. I just started learning from you so I'll try more things out once I can get my composting started! For now, I'm preparing buckets. So fun!
Lost my lemon tree to the unusual weather this year. My next new replacement will be wrapped around the trunk as well as sheet covering for the next year freeze. Lesson learn!
Oh nuts! I gave my beads away. Great idea to make those beads useful.
Great food for thought, Robbie.😃💕
Hi Robbie. I tried growing my chocolate mint in the house under grow lights the winter of 2021. Had to take them out because it had tiny flies and they took over my house. They also made the leaves sticky. This summer I am going to let it take over my backyard and dry it for tea. 😂
Once again, you have come up with an interesting new garden tip.👍🏻❤
I will be adding Mardi Gras beads to my garden list.
I have to admit that I kept having to force myself to focus on what you were doing in the foreground, because my attention was repeatedly drawn to the background!
I LOVE that misty canyon fog. 🥰So soothing and relaxing. I'd be grabbing a cup of something hot, and finding a perfect spot at a window to enjoy the beauty.❤
Thank you for ALWAYS bringing us inventive ways to incorporate non-garden items into our gardens. 🌿👍🏻🙂
You have the best ideas! Thank you so much for sharing.
These days I don't get enough light or sun anywhere in the house! Since I got a good deal on romaine hearts (packages for salad) I decided I might as well put the bottoms in water, and they have grown some, but I think they'd do even better if this rain and gloom every stops, so I'll try that again as romaine isn't among the seeds I have for "salad bowl" growing outdoors.
great idea with the beads! i also keep the pie tins(from store bought pie) and use them under my house plants as drain trays.
I have some basil, mint, and parsley on my windowsill area on top of a toaster oven.. No wonder they like it- extra light from the metal reflection 😊 I will try the Mardi Gras beads idea:) ( ps I move the plants when we go to make something in the oven lol)
I’ve lived in South Louisiana for 15 years and never would of guessed of using Mardi Gras beads in the garden.
Have you ever been asked or have experience with using milk oat meal or white rice stored in bottles mixed with water as a stimulant for seedlings. Kind of interesting don’t you think
You can use some gasket to fill in the gap in your window from the outside.
I have about 30-40 small veggie plants in clear totes in front of my sliding door. I put saran wrap over the totes to create little greenhouses. I had started several okra, and had not seen anything come up yet, put the totes on a heating pad, and woke up one okra plant over an inch tall! Nature rocks! Can't wait to get outside! Hopefully, only one more week of rain in Nor Cal. Cheers!
Oh you just gave me some good ideas. All parades in Louisiana throw beads. I never thought about reflective light for my indoor plants. Thanks yall have inspired my journey for a whole year. Your ideas are priceless. Thanks. I am seventy years old and you inspire me every time I watch.❤
Robbie, I love your videos…would you please consider doing a video showing how you harvest your turmeric and how you use it?
Would silver tulle work as a sunshade/heatshade to reflect the sun?
Hi Robbie and Gary, this is Nicole from Washington state!!! I love your idea about using Marti Gras beads they look just as good as using glass beads that you would use for crafts or that you would put in a vase. The marti Gras beads gives you color and adds beauty to your garden!!! Great idea , thanks for sharing
What a Wonderful idea! Thank You Robbie Love your ideas always so creative ❤️ ❤❤
I regret not cutting mint over winter, and could not find seeds in store. Im having fun propagating/rooting sticks, for hummer "food flowers" … 😂 but im in for the long haul. (You inspired me to upcyle for this project too!)Love the idea of the beads. My basil and tomato seedlings poked out today🎉. Ty robbie always learning lots here.
My hearing is bad, I thought u said Mardi gra beans! 😊😂 I looked at it and it was beads! 😂👍👩🌾 ok that’s a new idea for me ! Thanks Robbie! Your awesome!
