    Hi from Michigan! We still are getting some snow so I haven't been able to trim my Astilbe nor start my seedlings. I have a small space so my greenhouse is on wheels, no room indoors to get them started either. I'm super excited for the weather to break!

    Oh boy…Samantha 'going to work' with you took me back to when I would ride all day with my dad in his logging truck. He'd explain the CB, shifting all the gears, what to look for on the roads, honking the air horn, who was who on his route, what to do in case the truck starts to roll off the logging road, how to throw the wrappers, how to wrap the thermos to keep the water cold all day, where all the pull offs were on the narrow one and a half lane road out the mountains, spotting mile markers, good potty stops, little country stores for some sips and jerky – sometimes I'd make a little nest on the floor and use the seat for a pillow for my nap…yeah, great memories for a lifetime.

    Not that kids don't like to "get stuff", but what they REALLY want is to "DO stuff"…I can't remember what I got for a birthday gift when I was younger (apart from the EPIC Barbie Dream House), but most definitely remember every time I baked, gardened, camped, and cooked out with my parents. I'm so glad as an adult and a parent that my parents were as patient as they were teaching my siblings and me, and that they let us "help"…wonderful memories, and heaven knows, your kids will have plenty of those. what a wonderful way to grow up 💕

    Question. Do you mulch after the bulbs pop up? I have tulips popping up but haven’t seen the staffs, muscari, or crocus I planted. Do I wait for those to break the soil surface?
