Malabar spinach or pasalai keerai in tamil.

Basella Alba and rubra are plants with similar leaf and quality but differs in colour of stem. The plant is easy to grow, long lasting and is rich in iron, anti oxidants and vitamins.A wide range of dishes can be made of this spinach

Propogation is by seeds and grows well in South India
