My go-to for aphids, sawfly, & spider mites is the Bonide Rose RX or their Neem Oil. Both have neem extract as the active ingredient. Never tried the Horticultural Spray. Would you say they are similar?
You paper plate with a hole trick is brilliant. I have bonide spray and brush on sealer but I only used the spray once because it was messy.
Great tips! I love the Japanese Beetle Bagger® Trap Kit. It saves my rose and dahlia blooms.
My favorite bonide product is dead bug brew, it works pretty well in season as bug spray for my roses/flowers
I love all the Bonide products, and the Captain Jack’s Rose Rx 4 in 1 Ready to Use spray is my go-to for all rose issues. I use it preemptively!
I love many of Bonide products but the Copper 4E Fungicide is one I use often! 🥰 I put the Horicultural Oil in my Amazon cart. Going to give that a try once things warm up.
I always apply Bonide the Rose RX 4 garden product after I notice insects attack my roses, but never realize we need to use horticultural oil beforehand. Thank you for the tips
Hi, I am from Maryland and live in zone 6b, as you. I have new growth on 1 year tiny roses from DA. However, on 2 of the roses 1 cane grew to like 3', the rest of the rose is still small
I want to keep my roses on the smaller side. When can I cut those canes off? I love your videos! What area of MD do you live? Thanks
Like Bonide products..Use Bonide Neem oil, captan, dormant oil, acephate insect control. Thanks for the video great content.
My favorite Bonide product is the insecticide soap spray. I haven't used either of the products you highlighted today but I'd very much like to please. Thanks for the info.
I purchased the horticultural oil already and am waiting for it to warm up to use it for the first time per your recommendation. Hurry up spring!
My favorites Bonide products are Neem Oil and Copper Fungicide
I generally don't use any sprays at all. I just prune out foliage at the bottom of the plant and mulch well. I find this keeps most diseases away and I don't want to take a chance of killing beneficials. However I am looking into Bonide's Infuse for my camellias and just to have something on hand so things can be treated at first sign of a problem. Ultimately though, if a plant cannot survive without constant care then I don't want it. I have removed many roses that had issues and have replaced them with much better varieties. If we always spray immediately, then we can't quite figure out which roses are not worth keeping.
I've learned so much from your channel! I'm just up the road from you in DC so value all the info you give about our insanely humid climate. I've learned from you that black spot will likely be a fact of life in this area. I'm glad to know about horticultural oil as a helpful preventative for multiple pests. Bonide's super soap has been a lifesaver over the years for spider mites and aphids for me both here and in Texas.
Thankful for this useful information 🙏
Horticultural oil.
I use the Bonnie’s copper fungicide to combat powdery mew dew every winter
What pruners are you using ? Just discovered your channel and am really enjoying!!
Nice gardening 🪴🌱🌱👌
I learned something new today…need to add Bonide Horticultural oil to my regimen! The paper plate trick is so clever!
For Bonide, I’ve only used the copper fungicide and it works great!!
Thanks for the helpful info. I’ve used their neem oil with success.
I love their Horticultural Oil!
Systemic Drench is a solid product for keeping foliage free of mildew and insects especially when it starts to get hot and humid. The sealant product looks really interesting and agree with your point on good practice.
Thanks Kim, the video is helpful. I am planning to spray horticultural oil this week, but it always light rain when I decide to spray. Hope I can do in the Weekend. It will be very helpful if you tell the date of taking video in the beginning. Thanks
Great video explaining spring pruning and rose care! The Captain Jack's spray does a great job on gypsy moth infestations and potato beetles. You have inspired me to try the horticultural oil on my roses and the sealer on the rose canes. Thank you!
I like the horticultural oil, but I’m definitely going to try the sealant!
Done!! i need some rose care item's how lovely !!! also where is he tab found at ? i'm 25 and can't use a laptop IN 2023 smh i need To get with it ahhaah
I don’t think pruning applies to Mediterranean climate. I’m in southern Portugal, and when I eagerly pruned our roses last year they didn’t spring back as it does in oceanic climate. They developed buds with miniature leaves and are just about to recover now on the second year. In comparison we have a bush rose we only deadhead and that’s doing great. Just an insight.
