I just ❤️❤️❤️ Russel 🐾🥰🐾
it's amazing what grows from weird looking tubers and tiny little seeds, isn't it? a real testament to "don't judge a book (flower) by its cover" 🤩🤩and as noted by several of us already – that Russell… "she won't even know" (until she sees the playback, lol)… silly cats…. 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
I use a drink cooler with vermiculite and put in a 2 way humidity regulator, which maintains a relative humidity of 62% , tubers came out looking better than when they went in. Made by Integra Boost or Boveda
This was my first year overwintering dahlias in a dark cool spot. Wondered if you direct plant dahlias outside, do you still leave the eye exposed? Same as you did in the tray for pre-sprouting?
😂😂I see I’m not the only one that noticed the cat drinking Laura’s drink!😂
Russell was thirsty drinking some of Laura’s ice water. Wait a go Russell. I got dahlias for the first time last year because of you. They were beautiful and full full plants. Then they decided to get aphids or something and all 4 of them graduate died. I took them apart and no tubers. 😢. Great video hopefully everything goes great with them. Loved seeing Russell and Cheddar. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
You need to put a go pro on the cat for a day. It would be fun to watch from Russell's view point.🤣💗
Love this video! Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the tubers to sprout? I have had mine for a week and nothing yet 🙁
See, if my dahlias were as clumped together as that I would be going in with a scalpel and perform some tuber surgery. 😷🩺
Can't wait to see the rest of the results of your overwintering project! Why did some die despite your correct procedure?
What kind of soil do you use? 😊
One of the cats was enjoying your glass of ice water 🤓
Wow, what a bunch of tubers.
What would happen if u plant the dahlia without dividing it 🕷
I am about to do this with some tubers I saved last year from dahlias I grew from seeds! 😁
Idk about everyone else, but I would love a greenhouse tour to know what all those beautiful plants are behind you!
I'm so curious to see how your overwintering experiment goes! Two falls ago I missed a few tubers as I was digging them up, and they came back (with no mulch and sub-zero winter temps!) last spring. I was shocked, as I'm also zone 6 and thought they would never survive our winters. My success rate with tuber storage has been terrible, so this past fall I decided to just leave them all in the ground and see what happens this spring. Even if only half survive, that's better than my success rate at storing the tubers. 🙂
Oh goodie I was wondering when it was time to address Dahlias! 🌸🌸🌸 Liz
I love watching 👀 😍 but it's nice too see Russell is just like my 🐈 they sneak my coffee when I am "not" looking😆✨️✨️✨️✨️
At 1:21 Russel helping himself to Laura’s beverage🤣 In the wise words of my dear niece, sharing is caring! Enjoy your mamas drink or ice Russel😹
I enjoyed this informative vid on Dahlias…one of my fav flowers that I've grown in my Zone 3A …keep waiting to hear if your "Cafe au Lait" survived…. love the tiddy pats actions….lol …Best from BC 💮
I got a little excited and ahead of myself and bought dahlia tubers at the big box stores. The problem is that they started to sprout and I'm still around two months away from planting time. What should I do with them?
Love that naughty Russell
thank you!
Hi! I just purchased some dahlia tubers. When is a good time to plant them in the ground in Southern California?
Do you still have your little PeppyLe Pom pomegranate plants. I would think they could be adorable in-the Hartley
Fingers crossed for your dahlias you left in the ground. I normally leave mine in the ground. Its kind of hit and miss with me some do well and l lose some to. So a great video today on dahlias.
💜💜
As so many noted, I love Russell helping himself to a refreshing beverage this morning!!
😻😻Love those two!! Thank you for your informative and entertaining videos😹🙀
👋Good Wednesday morning, Laura!!!
👋Hi Russell!🐈 🤫😂🤣😂🤣😂 I won't tell your momma that you were drinking her Fresca…..😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
👋Hi Cheddar!🐈
WOWZERS, those tubers are HUUUUUUGE!!!
👋Good morning, Aaron! I didn't realize you were filming, until I heard your whispered "YEAAAAAH".
👂👂LOVING the music!!!! Thank you Aaron/Ken!!!!
I did not know that you could grow Dahlias from seed. Thank you for sharing that information, Laura! That will be a satisfying, less expensive way to grow these beautiful flowers!!!! I have bought several tubers, but I love saving money, where I can….
Have a Blessed and Beautiful day/night 🌞/🌜✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️ 🌐 everyone!

Hello Laura, I remember you posting about Dahlias you grew from seed one year. I am growing some this year and wanted to know if/ how you fertilize the seedlings. My dahlia seedlings already have atleast 2 set of true leaves.
I would think if you had enough mulch your dahlias should be fine
I have a patch of austromeria here in nebraska has gotten to 30 below I just pile leaf bags over them an come spring when I pull off there reaching for the sun 🌞 😊
Bad Russell! Sneaking some of Laura’s Black Cherry Fresca! How many times has that happened unknowingly to those of us with pets… 🤔🤣
I'm really bad at identifying the growth point. If I want to presprout some tubers, could I plant them vertically with the top sticking out, instead of horizontally, like yours? I'm afraid if I put them in horizontally like you did, I may accidentally put the growth point facing down. Or is there a better method when you can't see/identify the growth point?
