I really love the cattle panel as a unit for a farm or homestead. at 16′ long and 50″ tall they can be arched into incredibly durable and strong foundational elements for structure. Either a bit more thoughtful and with end walls to become a high tunnel or quick and simple for a scalable mini-shed like shown here.
Cattle panels have gone up in price for sure, so it would cost more to do with brand new panels, but ask around to any local farms, check used sections, farm auctions, etc. I bought a truck FULL of these for $8 a piece about 10 years ago and they will easily out live me in variously functional uses around the homestead. They feel like a sound investment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X–HiMPA3VY – Build documentation. Not much too it and pretty fast. You can absolutely do this! Maybe you want a little help as needed, but this is a great and easy project for most contexts and abilities.
This could be a firewood storage space, a tool space, animal run, riding mower storage, potting shed, motorcycle storage, some combination of these. Imagine a central divider that can make two separate spaces AND reinforce it for massive snow loads. Lots of options.

  1. I love the convenience of cattle panel structures; I'm still trying to figure out how to make them more robust against wind & snow, though. We have a 'chicken bunker' nearly identical to this (providing birds with snow-free ground in the winter), but badly in need of rebuilding. It shed snow fine the first winter, but got mangled by a wind storm last year, and needs more snow maintenance this year. I used 1/2" and 3/4" conduit to provide stiffness, which worked great until we had wind strong enough to bend them.

  2. Jesus is God & He loves you

    Jesus will soon be seen by all men, women, and children in the clouds. Jesus is returning now! Believe and be saved.

    Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

    John 1:1 & 14

    1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    14 And the Word was made flesh (Lord Jesus), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    John 8:24 (Jesus speaking)

    I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

    John 14:9 (Jesus speaking)!!

    Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

    Hebrews 1:1-3, & 8 (God calls His Son "O God" because Jesus IS God in the flesh)

    1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

    3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

    8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

    1 John 5:7

    For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

    There Are None Righteous / How To Be Saved

    Romans 3:10 & 23

    10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

    23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

    Luke 5:31-32 (Jesus speaking)

    31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

    32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

    1 Peter 3:18 (The word “quicken” means “to make alive”)

    For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

    Romans 10:9

    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

    Acts 4:12

    Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

    Ephesians 2:8-9

    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    Repent of your sins or suffer the consequences. Lord Jesus died in our places personally to take the death punishment that sin deserves and then resurrected by the power of God. Believe this and sincerely repent of your sins each time you sin and you will have eternal life and nothing to fear. Fail to repent and you will end up in the Lake of Fire.

  3. I am so aching to start my own after watching your videos. Your birds are so comfortable 😌. They really show your love❤️

  4. How much you pay for those squares? And the Rounds?.. so the rest of us can compare to our local grower's

  5. I’ve used the bent cattle panel method to build a small greenhouse, a chicken coop, a storage shed, and a goat shelter. All are framed on one or both ends to add rigidity and enclosure as needed. It’s a great construction technique for an older person working alone. If the shelter is no longer needed it can be disassembled and the materials reused.

  6. This is awesome! I was just planning out how to build something similar to this for our hay we are getting later this month. Thank you!

  7. i made one using your instructions as a passive solar woodshed 🙂 was very straightforward and fun to make! i even documented the build, so one day soon I'll share that

  8. I learned not to use hay as bedding as it might develop mould spores which can harm the chickens. If you've used it for years it appears you haven't had that problem.

    I use straw, which is fine.

  9. I love your low cost resolutions! Just a suggestion….cover with dark tarp in hot weather. The greenhouse plastic will actually heat it up too hot! Cautious for potential wildfire. I had my plants actually singed last summer in a greenhouse. I added shade cloth. The sun's rays are much stronger than traditionally had been….

  10. Well done. We use the cattle panels for all types of things around the garden. Most recently, two arches were added as a cover over our coops. Great shade and rain protection for the chooks! Blessings…

  11. Look around for used billboard vinyl as a water proof material. Some say you should be able to get it for free.

  12. My experience is that there are nubs and points on the cattle panels. The plastic deteriorates so quickly and isn't dependable 😔 leaks with hay means mold and food for my animals destroyed in a blink.
    I do like the idea, has never worked for me. I am boggled by the multiple channels that apparently have no issues ever using combo cattle panels and plastic all the time.

  13. Are you familiar with YouTube channel … Bobblehead Homestead ? He uses those cattle panels for his chicken houses too.

  14. I’m so gracious for your channel. The frugal mentality for homesteading is so pure in so many ways. Keep being awesome and inspiring brother! The country needs it

  15. i watched a tree guild video from a year ago. would you, could you, please, please do more of those . I just learned a year ago about these. I am planning to put in several currants and Siberian Pea shrubs and raspberries in our 4 zone area , along with any other fruit shrubs I can get to grow in our climate.
