How Millions Of Crickets Are Raised and Harvested in Farm – Edible Insects Farm Industry



Crickets Farming. While insect consumption is somewhat of a novelty in the west, it has actually been a part of human cuisine for a long time, especially in Africa, Asia, and Northern America. And in Thailand specifically, insect consumption still plays a major part in everyday nutrition.
In the past insects were considered food for the poor, however, in the past decades, that notion has become outdated, and insects have become an affordable, nutritious and variable meal or snack.
A lot of insects are simply gathered from the wild, such as grasshoppers, bamboo caterpillars, silkworms, water scavenger beetles and others. While a few insects are properly reared in facilities, most common are crickets and palm weevil larvae. With crickets being more widespread in the north, and weevils in the south.

    Widerlich. Da hilft keine schöne Musik oder eine professionelle Aufmachung des Videos. Nicht Insekten sind die Lösung für die anstehende Nahrungsmittelknappheit auf der Erde, sondern das beenden der Maßlosigkeit der Menschen, besonders in den westlichen Industriestaaten. Täglich werden hunderte Tonnen Nahrungsmittel allein in Deutschland vernichtet. Anstatt dieses Problem zu lösen, soll alles mit Insekten kompensiert werden, das ist krank. Das ganze System auf der Welt ist krank.

    I do not think crickets will ever become a primary food source in my country in the next 20 years anyway, after that I will be gone anyway.

    I've eaten crickets in Thailand and think about growing some at home as cheap protein alternative.

    I find your comments on modern day farming and food production to be insulting and very inaccurate. Having spent over 50 years in agriculture, I'm certain that I can correctly speak for the efficiency and effective farm practices. You should be appreciative that you had enough to eat today. If you truly believe insect food is the future, I challenge you to quit eating food other's are thankful for and start eating those insects. I'm sure that would make you more appreciative of the American Farmer. I suggest you quit driving by farms because you have no idea what it takes to put food on your table. You are welcome.
